Hope to god Cage Warriors still goes ahead on Friday as it's the last bit of live combat we'll be seeing for a while, utterly depressing this turn of events.

Would be good if Sky and BT could recycle fight footage and give it a new life.

Both are struggling for content. fighters are stuck at home not getting paid and fans are feeling starved.

Take a fight like Whyte vs Chisora. Get both fighters to watch the fight giving their insights of what they were experiencing during the fight. Similar to a movie commentary track on a DVD. Sky then edit it together to give the fight a new feel and perspective from inside the ring. The fighters wouldn't need to leave home for this and would earn a little payday for an hour of their time.

How long can society go on with no sports events, places locked down, people staying inside? The virus cannot be detected and people show no symptoms and they can still spread it by coughing or sneezing. That's the reason they've had to shut society down but with a vaccine about a year away, I don't see a good outcome.

lol ya, it's kinda amusing to me to see what is still left in abundance at the stores. apparently the virus is not causing people to buy more chips and soda and ice cream, so now I am free to get in fighting keyboard warrior shape :yay:

How long do you realistically see this lasting for? I think shows should be back and running by June. May seems unrealistic

Hmm I really think they’re going to put sport out as soon as it’s relatively safe because it’s still a business, and there’ll be even more demand for it (tv at least). I think these next couple of weeks are crucial.

If you do boxing in an empty hall you will still need medics there so whilst the NHS needs them I doubt there will be any kind of boxing for now

The world has gone insane with this virus bullshit.

Its virtually harmless to all but 85 year old cabbages with dodgy lungs and asthma.

However, the world is now thrown into economic crisis as a result of these lockdowns and travel restrictions and tens of millions can realistically lose their jobs.

More people will top themselves as a result of these hysterical measures than die from the virus itself.

When did the world become such a snowflake ridden media controlled madhouse??

What happens when the next flu bug comes?? Lockdown again? Economically the knock on effects of all this will be devastating and could literally put us back 20 years

Simply tell the vulnerable to isolate themselves for a month and let the remaining 99% of society go about their business as usual.

Why look to doctors in this time of need when you’ve got absolutely uneducated morons preaching about something they know less than nothing about, have never studied and no medical background whatsoever... on a boxing forum? Thanks for your input. It’s duly unnoted

Wtf ? You are Clearly uneducated on the matter , young healthy adults have died in China and Italy .
Italy have said that over 600 people have died in one day today . This is not a flu bug .
Sincerely hope you don't need the NHS to assist you in any way with this .
Typical f you jack I'm ok attitude that we are seeing throughout the country at this current time and I presume you bought 98 bog rolls for yourself the last time you went shopping .

People in Italy regularly cuddle and kiss friends, they also have elderly relatives living with them. 3 generations in the same home. The Russians won’t do that.

At the higher level probably not sustainable without having people in the grounds .
The other thing is we are all meant to be keeping our distance from each other , bit of a job in a sport like footy .
Also I think you'll find many people including players , staff and officials will come down with this thing .

Yes in theory. But in reality that would lead to a massive loss of income for the clubs from match day income including gate receipts, hospitality etc. For example, Arsenal earn circa £100m per year from match day income, 1/3 of its yearly revenue.

Profit is maximised in the Premier League. It is an efficient, money making machine and I don’t see the powers that be being so flexible or willing to compromise unlike Eddie Hearn and Dana White and put on events behind closed doors. It could yet happen though. And I suppose UEFA and FIFA will have the ultimate decision.

I’m only speculating here, but I’m sure you could pay privately for medical staff attendance at live games and a private hospital to be put on notice, no?

The football clubs could afford that. Not something I see boxing promoters wanting to pay for. But maybe logistically it isn’t even viable regardless of the wealth of the sport or the size of the desire to proceed.

In all likelihood all the hospitals are going to be overrun, private hospitals being no exception. That's why countries have had to turn hotels into dozens of temporary hospitals, and why you will already be able to see markers around hospitals in the UK, marking out where the army engineers will at short notice be building temporary tented hospital rooms. It would be a bad joke if Heard or Warren did anything silly enough as putting more strain on the health system in our country.

It’s not wether they could do that. It’s that they shouldn’t do that.

It’s a bit of a dick head move to pull medical staff away from anywhere at the minute. I’m missing the sports as much as anyone but if it’s potentially saving even a few lives, it’s a no-brainer to keep things the way they are for now.

Totally agree. Certainly not until the corner has been turned with all this. And by the sounds of it we’re now just heading towards the cusp of a dramatic surge of fatalities ala Italy. It seems we are tracking them very closely.

Interestingly the UFC’S huge fight between Khabib v Ferguson in April has not yet been postponed. The organisation is still trying to make that fight happen. Incredible. Hard to believe.

People are being selfish. Of course they are.

In uncertain times people are going to do what they can to secure some coin. All the pubs and restaurants are scrambling and there’s gonna be similar situations in every industry.

There’s no point in me hand-wringing on a boxing forum is there, but I think lots of people are being short-sighted.

I hope nothing horrible comes to anyone here, like!

All McDonald’s in UK to close indefinitely from 7pm tomorrow. So even the takeaways are starting to go now.
