Middleweights: Herol Graham vs Vito Antuofermo

Post by scorpio83 »

15 Rounds Middleweight Bout

Graham would either out-box Vito behind his southpaw jabs and counters to take a decision or cut eye late round stoppage in about 12 rounds. What do you guys think?

Vito Antuofermo was just a bit before my time but I do remember his fight against Minter in London and his loss to Hagler....... tough guy.

Typically with Graham, it would all hinge on his ability to maintain concentration, although in light of Antuofermo's fairly modest knock out record, I'd agree that Graham would probably show him a clean pair of gloves.

Graham by clear decision for me.

Antuofermo would be on Graham’s chest for the entire fight, win a UD by out working him the second half of the fight

Dont ever recall Vito Antuofermo having a punch. I dont think he ko'ed anyone of great note. Wouldnt get close to the Bomber imo. Bomber would frustrate him to a decision.

You're right, Vito never knocked out anyone of great note except he knocked out Cyclone Hart, who was done as a contender. Vito struggled against big name southpaws like the Marvelous One, Minter and Maurice Hope. Graham was a southpaw and would give Vito problems behind his jabs and counters to take a decision like the 3 big name southpaws I just mentioned earlier.

As if Grahahm only lost to vaunted KO beasts

How about turning the tables, when did Herol beat a fighter as good as Vito with Vito's excellent stamina , toghness, and workrate? 15 was Vito's game too

it would be a similar fight to the Vinny Paz fight.

Prime Vito over 15 much tougher task than a shopworn Paz (who prob won 4 rounds). This circle jerk over Vito not being a huge puncher is off the mark too considering it's been clearly shown that type usually wasnt what beat HG, though of course Herol getting absolutely starched by JJ is the most memorable moment of his career

Vito was a come forward guy who liked to get involved at close quarters. That wouldn’t work with Graham who was a complete nightmare to share the ring with, even for the guys who beat him. I can’t think of anyone who was awkward as Graham, even in the Ingle gym.

Vito was also a guy who could actually win at the top level and be highly competitive vs great fighter, and he would keep coming. Herol would falter after a bright start, as we've seen him do
