No offense but I think Czyz was a real good fighter and yes it is an ugly beat down but with Czyz doing the beating. Czyz was fast hard punching good chin and punched in combinations. And big heart.

the light heavy bobby could hardly win a round against virgil hill, stopped twice by charles williams including losing nearly all rounds in the rematch. beat by pretty much every notable lhw he faced and had a completely padded title reign. he's not gonna give tarver a beating. tarver was far more skilled and would take a comfortable decision.
bobby was tough and game and would have his moments but gets outpointed

Possible. My best memory of Tarver was beating Jones but other than that he didnt look special. And Maybe im focusing on the Sandman Edwards and Tim Broady fights ill have to watch again because the 1st Williams fight was a war .But im going to watch.DrDuke wrote: ↑24 Jan 2022, 02:36Gotta go with this.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑23 Jan 2022, 23:51 the light heavy bobby could hardly win a round against virgil hill, stopped twice by charles williams including losing nearly all rounds in the rematch. beat by pretty much every notable lhw he faced and had a completely padded title reign. he's not gonna give tarver a beating. tarver was far more skilled and would take a comfortable decision.

I will always admit when im wrong and think I may have been wrong about Tarver . He looks much more impressive than I remember with some deadly power.
Im still going with Czyz but think it would be a war with Czyz taking some beating but winning

Tarver beats Czyz by UD.
Re: Light Heavyweights : Antonio Tarver vs. Bobby Czyz
I grew up watching Czyz's bouts, and have a good idea of his abilities. But Tarver, I haven 't seen enough of him to make any judgments.
However, looking closely at Tarver's record, I'm comfortable that he would have defeated Czyz at 175 lbs. Tarver's big advantages in height, reach, and boxing ability would dictate the outcome.
Impressive too is that Tarver twice beat Roy Jones Jr. That tells us something about his talent level, and overall boxing ability.
Tarver would control the fight from long range, depriving Bobby of the opportunity to assert himself through effective infighting. He'd probably do some serious facial damage when he puts his punches together. But Bobby would take it all, and press on like a bulldog.
End result: Tarver by UD or by TKO anytime after the eighth.

Re: Light Heavyweights : Antonio Tarver vs. Bobby Czyz
Czyz definitely had a high ring IQ and could adjust his tactics in a variety of ways, depending on the other guy's style. Excellent infighting skills, hand speed, decent power, combination punching, durability, and tenacity were his other assets.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑23 Jan 2022, 23:51 the light heavy bobby could hardly win a round against virgil hill, stopped twice by charles williams including losing nearly all rounds in the rematch. beat by pretty much every notable lhw he faced and had a completely padded title reign. he's not gonna give tarver a beating. tarver was far more skilled and would take a comfortable decision.

Normally I'd give Bobby a chance at figuring out how to overcome his height and reach disadvantages (he stood 5'9.75" with a 69.5" wingspan). However, his limitations fighting talented tall guys was indeed exposed against Williams and Hill.
So, I just can't picture Czyz overcoming a challenge like Tarver.
Re: Light Heavyweights : Antonio Tarver vs. Bobby Czyz
Tarver by late TKO or wide UD. He baffled me a bit because he was super talented but sometimes seemed to get lazy in fights. Still, he'd have more than enough to bear Czyz, whom I always enjoyed watching
Re: Light Heavyweights : Antonio Tarver vs. Bobby Czyz
Tarver's southpaw punching style would be too much for Czyz to handle as Tarver would decision him or stopping him late with a big left hand.
