That was the ortiz situation. I didn't take too kindly to it.
Ortiz had JUST headbutted Floyd right in the mouth intentionally only about 30 seconds before that, he was trying to apologize and hug him. I would've cracked his punk ass too.

9 times out of 10 I wouldn't do it, but if I didn't like the guy or felt like he had the upper hand on me in the matchup. I probably would

Marcos Maidana did that against Amir Khan, and I loved it.

I like mean guys who don't give a f*ck about being good sportsman they just want to win. It's a brutal sport, and sometimes you gotta be a brutal guy in there.
It's time honored to touch gloves for the last round. That's a bit different from May-Ortiz after the ref called time back in, but protect yourself at all times.

Often the referees will grab the guys by the arms, and make 'em touch gloves in the last round. A practice which I don't particularly care for.

I'm not opposed to most things when it comes to touching gloves. If the guys wanna do it, fine. If the guys don't wanna do it, fine. If one guy don't wanna do it, and tries to sucker punch you, fine. I don't like the referee trying to force it on you though.

There has to be a case where someone was knocked out cold touching gloves before the start of the last round. Teddy Atlas hates it vehemently. :OhYes:

I've seen it at the opening bell. Last round would prob be a DQ since the ref usually orders them to touch

Often literally grabbing the guys by the arm as if they're children.

By the last round, I would imagine most guys are too tired to be coming out with that kinda fire at the bell anyway. You're doing your best to make it to the end and pace yourself by Round 12.

Plus I would imagine there is genuinely a new level of mutual respect between you and your opponent by the time you've gone 11 rounds with each other.

Teddy went on a very long rant against a boxer who wanted to touch gloves after a ref's warning. It was funny because Atlas was so bothered by it. He went on for minutes saying stuff like he's not in there to make friends.

Lennox Lewis - Oliver McCall II is another strange TKO. A DQ there would have been reasonable as well. But it looks like TKO can cover a wide variety of situations.

Mills Lane stopped the fight because McCall no longer possessed sufficient mental capacity to protect himself at all times.

The official verdict, from the get-go, was always a TKO.

A boxer should only ever be disqualified when they repeatedly or flagrantly foul an opponent or violate the rules.

I’m not sure what rule McCall violated, because I can’t find anything official that covers his actions against Lewis.
