David Haye looks forward to eWBSS Heavyweight Legends tournament quarter-final with George Foreman

“I have to be on my toes against Foreman!” - Haye looks forward to eWBSS QF

‘The Hayemaker’ David Haye will clash with the oldest Heavyweight World Champion in history when he challenges ‘Big George’ Foreman tonight at 5pm GMT in the fourth quarter-final of the ‘eWBSS Heavyweight Legends’ tournament.

Alongside fellow eWBSS quarter-finalist Evander Holyfield, Britain’s Haye is one of two boxers throughout history to have unified the Cruiserweight World titles before becoming a World Heavyweight Champion. Despite his excellent pedigree, Haye is aware he faces a sizeable challenge when his eSport character collides with the formidable Foreman.

“When I saw the draw for the ‘eWBSS Heavyweight Legends’ tournament I was thinking: Wow, that’s a horrid draw for me, I have to be on my toes against Foreman!” says real-life Haye before Thursday’s eWBSS quarter-final. “I’m facing one of the most powerful boxers in history! I better get my tech guy to hack the computer to boost my punch resistance to give me half a chance!”

Foreman, who had both an esteemed amateur and professional career as he won gold at the 1968 Olympics before becoming a two-time Heavyweight World Champion, was known around the world following ‘The Rumble in Jungle’ with Muhammad Ali in 1974.

‘Big George’ cemented his legacy with an astonishing comeback 20 years later when he knocked out Michael Moorer to unify the WBA and IBF titles and become the oldest World Champion in Heavyweight history aged 45.

The ‘eWBSS Heavyweight Legends’ tournament began on Monday, March 23, and there will be a fight streamed every night until the final on Sunday, March 29. The entire ‘eWBSS Heavyweight Legends’ tournament will be streamed on the World Boxing Super Series Facebook page at 5pm (GMT) every day.

The tournament, simulated on EA Sports ‘Fight Night Champion’, is created to provide some much-needed relief and entertainment for fight fans around the world during these testing times.

Remaining eWBSS match-ups:
QF4 – George Foreman vs David Haye – Thurs, March 26

SF1 – Muhammad Ali vs Joe Frazier – Fri, March 27
SF2 – Mike Tyson vs Winner of QF4 – Sat, March 28

Final – Winner of SF1 vs Winner of SF2 – Sun, March 29

You reckon they're not simulating and just having them controlled by people?

Probably yeh. Ali probably has the best attributes in the game for HW's..

Unless they been altered.

Foreman was knocked down only to recover and stop Haye in the very next round.

Watching that brings me to another boxing game shortcoming, the knockdowns are unrealistic as f@ck most of the time, you get guys falling in weird ways you hardly ever see, often with some overly dramatic fainting swoon

Do you know if you have an option to chose which version you want? I know there are some games where you can choose different version of the same person.

Ali may have been "The Greatest" but against Holyfield he even looked better than that. )

Tyson, in his prime KOs Butterbean in 1. End of story.

Would like to see a 70s Foreman vs the second coming Foreman.

Based on another thread, it seems that many would like to see Fury involved in this because he's the greatest ever! LMFAO! I can't believe I'm bored enough to watch this stop action animation.

It's entertaining. The boxing isn't bad either. but I meant the ring card girls.

The opinions on Fury do have quite a range. Good time to throw out the highs and the lows.

There is a guy in another thread saying Fury's defense is worse than Cleveland Williams's, it does indeed go in many directions

Mr. Perfect is in full denial mode now. He's gone off the rails saying Williams wasn't in his prime vs Satterfield and took another fight while sitting at ringside at the last second.

Not to mention that every fight resembles Tua vs. Ibeabuchi

I mean, it's entertaining but come on.

It was pretty tame for a Tyson fight. No way BB survives 15 more seconds after the first knockdown once Tyson smelled blood!

I've been running a Middleweight Tournament on this game myself, and the big shocker thus far is Kelly Pavlik winning a Unanimous Decision in a 15 rounder over Sugar Ray Robinson :o

Within the last three days, 80K people have viewed four videos of people playing a really old PS3 game that was released during March 2011.

They’re not simulation videos either, because it’s simply gamers button mashing rather than making an honest attempt to replicate the pugilistic fighting styles.

The Crawford-Postol bout attracted 50K PPV buys.

The Brook-Jennings bout attracted 15K PPV buys.

I’m not being funny, but these WBSS Fantasy fights are attracting decent viewing figures.
