You're actually endorsing the obscenely moronic notion to withdraw professionally trained medical personnel, such as ambulancemen, nurses & doctors, dealing with the coronavirus within struggling/overwhelmed hospitals, in order to attend boxing events that are being staged purely for entertainment/fiscal purposes.![]()

Doctors, especially neurologists arent working 24/7. If the price was right theyd be fight doctors.
The optics might be bad but when has boxing cared about public perception?

It’s actually outrageously moronic and ignorant to pretend that staging boxing (or any sporting) events would even be given any serious thought by the various sporting and governing bodies.
For instance, the NSAC has currently suspended all combat sporting events.

Right now we're all busy watching the Coronavirus going for a quick KO against the World.
My money's still on the World getting the decision. It's one of those GGG v Derevyanchenko wars where recovery might take quite a while.
In fact some fear that the World, like poor Sergiy, might never be the same again afterwards.

Fauci intimated tonight they expect a slow down soon in the warmer climates before it rares back up again in the winter. They’re rushing a vaccine to get one out before the winter, and hopefully the fall. It will be the fastest vaccine in history to make it though trials. Which will mean bypassing some regulations. Which will mean the people getting a vaccine in 2020 would probably be signing waivers to do so because of the excelerated time frame.
My guess? You will see fanless NBA and NHL playoff games in June-July and the start of baseball season in July, also possibly without fans. UFC will still have a decent amount of fan-less shows starting in mid-April because their ESPN contract allows them to turn profits without a live gate. Boxing often requires spectators to turn a profit unless the events are on DAZN or ESPN. Those cards may still happen but not before 2 months from now at the earliest. And without fans.
Cuban actually tweeted tonight he expects the NBA back by May. I think that’s a tad optimistic.

You can get the Dr for the 2 hours for fight night. but if someone has a head injury and needs an ICU bed for the next 2-10 weeks..... thats the problem, governing bodys wont allow somthing with the risk of needed care not being available.Jeff_lacy_ko wrote: ↑25 Mar 2020, 11:31 Doctors, especially neurologists arent working 24/7. Re: coronavirus How long are we looking at being inactive.?
Travis Kauffman, who was due to return on April 11 following an absence of a year, confirmed the news himself.
“Please keep me and my family in prayers. Tested positive for Covid-19. This too shall pass,” said the 34-year-old.
Born in Pennsylvania, Kauffman has a record of 32-3 with 23 knockouts. He was once on the cusp of a World Boxing Council shot at Deontay Wilder.
Losses to Amir Mansour and Luis Ortiz ended those hopes, although Kauffman has never given up on his dream.
Now, Kauffman faces a similar fight to over 75,000 US compatriots due to the country being gripped by the coronavirus.

It's irrelevant. A governing body is precisely just that - it's a generic term to describe those able to formulate policies that others must adhere to.Jeff_lacy_ko wrote: ↑27 Mar 2020, 09:10gregregegg wrote: ↑26 Mar 2020, 22:52

There will be authorities that dictate the measures that should be implemented in order to minimise the spread and impact of the coronavirus.
For instance: the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) has cancelled all professional and amateur combative sports events between now and April 30th, including Boxing, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), and Muay Thai bouts.
If the networks and promoters are really desperate to stage and televise a boxing event, they’ll have to find a geographical location that permits it and isn’t significantly affected by COVID-19.

Wonderful
Would the Caribbean host a fight? Wyoming? West Virginia? If the money is right things will happen.

If there are place in the Caribbean, Wyoming or West Virginia that are unaffected by COVID-19 and the various governing bodies permit it, then those geographical regions will be able to stage bouts.Jeff_lacy_ko wrote: ↑27 Mar 2020, 11:19 Wonderful

I just don't think it'll happen though. And if it does, don't expect to see any marquee names headlining those fight cards.

To be honest, if the coronavirus continues beyond May, there’ll be serious economic consequences, not just for fighters, but for every single one of us, because there’ll inevitably be a worldwide recession.Jeff_lacy_ko wrote: ↑27 Mar 2020, 17:18 If it last only til april i agree with you

In the big scheme of things, boxing is a niche sport. It’ll be near the back of the queue, in terms of priorities, for the various networks and sporting content providers.
And if this happens, a lot of people who currently make a living from the sport of boxing, will be forced to find a new vocation. Several promoters have already conceded this likely scenario.
I’m not saying you’re wrong by the way, some promoters will probably attempt to stage shows during May in geographical areas minimally affected by the coronavirus, but I do feel the recession will have a severe impact on our beloved sport.

I think this is the time for a big fight. There is no competition and ratings would be huge. It would be a risk for sure but i just dont see huge companies like tr or dazn sitting out much longer
Hopefully this thing peaks in 2 weeks and warmer weather kills it

I feel bad for Americans under Trump. No way this thing peaks in 2 weeks, or that warm weather will have any sort of dramatic effect. Just look at warm countries like Australia, where it's currently ramping up. America is already looking very likely to be far worse effected than China and Italy, yet Trump is trying to lift restrictions.
Re: coronavirus How long are we looking at being inactive.?
That's what happens when your POTUS is an idiot. Good thing his own administration doesn't take him seriously. Only his uneducated cheerleaders do.polecateddy wrote: ↑28 Mar 2020, 05:31 I feel bad for Americans under Trump. Trump is trying to downplay the severity of the coronavirus. He might be doing this to avoid widespread panic amongst US citizens and to also avoid any catastrophic financial impact on Wall Street.Tony1244 wrote: ↑28 Mar 2020, 09:03That's what happens when your POTUS is an idiot. The US media is also known to embellish situations somewhat and seems to be the source of a lot of fake news.
Perhaps Trump is doing the wrong thing, who knows, but he can’t afford to portray his administration as being totally helpless against the coronavirus. He needs to be seen to be in control of the situation, hence the reason why he’s downplaying it.
Behind closed doors, I suspect the situation is very much different to how Trump’s team conduct themselves in front of the media.
A bit like a duck swimming on water: apparently calm and serene, but paddling like crazy just beneath the surface.
Re: coronavirus How long are we looking at being inactive.?
I'll give Trump a backhanded compliment. He did what Nixon used to do. The statements coming out of his administration on the virus are all over the place. So whatever happens, he could cherry pick the statements for his audience.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑28 Mar 2020, 09:21Trump is trying to downplay the severity of the coronavirus. Nixon, or one of his more moderate cabinet members would talk about Vietnam deescalation and rights of protesters and then have Agnew talk about beating up the hippies and bombing the Communists.
