I’m not being funny, but these WBSS Fantasy fights are attracting decent viewing figures.
No point comparing them to PPV's.

PPV's cost. The tournament is free to view.

WBSS Fantasy Tournament: Ali To Face Liston in Semi-Final, Frazier is Out

Image

Due to a growing global interest in the eWBSS, tournament No 1 seed Muhammad Ali will take on Sonny Liston at the new time of 7pm (GMT) on the @WBSuperSeries Facebook for a place in the final.

Watch the previous QFs here.

"We are very sorry to disappoint the fans of the eWBSS who were looking forward to Muhammad Ali vs Joe Frazier but due to unforeseen circumstances, we have to replace Smokin’ Joe with Sonny Liston – one of history’s toughest and most intimidating boxers who fought Ali twice in real-life. The fights between Ali and Liston were among the most anticipated and watched in sport's history. We cannot wait to see their eSport characters battle it out for a place in the final of the ‘eWBSS Heavyweight Legends’ tournament. See you on Facebook," stated the World Boxing Super Series team.

The tournament, simulated on EA Sports ‘Fight Night Champion’, is created by the real World Boxing Super Series to provide some much-needed relief and entertainment for fight fans around the world during these testing times.

Remaining eWBSS match-ups:

SF1 – Muhammad Ali vs Sonny Liston – Fri, March 27
SF2 – Mike Tyson vs George Foreman – Sat, March 28

Final
– Winner of SF1 vs Winner of SF2 – Sun, March 29

I did say they should have just used Liston from the start.

Foreman has to lose to Tyson in this tournament, because otherwise Ali must automatically beat ‘Big’ George by default in the final, since this is precisely what happened in reality.

Even though, the prime version of Foreman would have beaten Tyson.

The same applies with Ali versus Liston.

Maybe the simulator just found out Ali and Frazier had fought 3 times.

Replacement in a video game. Definitely under the category of you can't make this sh!t up.

Ali vs. Liston III

Ali drops Liston a number of times before forcing a stoppage.

Did Frazier's estate threaten to sue or something?

Otherwise, this was just plain dumb.

I was actually looking forward to that fight.

There was a rumour he was only paid half his purse for the Lennox Lewis fight. WBSS decided to drop him instead.

They want ali v tyson
Ali v frazier probably yielded a 50/50 result whereas ali beats liston 99 percent or something

Although going by the history posters on BoxRec, Liston should have like a 100 rating lol

A little shocked that Foreman and Haye are the same size, I.e. 6.3. In my mind Foreman is a big 6.3 while Haye a small 6.3 lol.

The size of Foreman's opposition might have something to do with that

You do realise that the prime version of "Big" George Foreman, the man who defeated Joe Frazier in their first fight, was almost identical in height and weight to the prime version of David Haye that defeated Nikolay Valuev? :-?

At his physical prime, Foreman was simply a rehydrated cruiserweight by modern standards.

George Foreman’s mathematical average weight was 217lbs from the start of his career through until the end of 1973. He was 217½lbs when he faced Joe Frazier in 1973. He was also only 6’ 3.5” in height.

From the start of his career through until 1973, the average George Foreman opponent was typically 6’ 0” in height, weighing around the 206lbs mark.

I always had Foreman at 6'4". Sometimes he's listed there in tale of the tape.

He's usually 6'3, I don't doubt that's accurate. Look at his opposition, a lot of guys around 6 feet and the low 200s. Haye looked really big as a cruiser too

I remember seeing Geroge next to a young Wlad and he looked far smaller

He was more like a giant for his era, just like Jack Johnson was known as a giant in his day, even though he was 6 feet tall and weighed in the 180s

Funny thing, Kenny Norton is listed at 6' 3" George looked taller than him in Caracas. Ron Lyle listed as 6' 3.5" and George looked taller than him too. Just saying. doesn't really matter.
