Remember reading about Archie Moore vs Willie Pastrano in the excellent book 'In This Corner...' and Pastrano was telling about how Moore old manned him big time - he was telling Pastrano in the first few rounds 'oooh, you're boxing well, you're a future champ, dance pretty Willie dance etc' and Willie Pastrano went back to his corner where Angelo Dundee was waiting for him and he said 'how you feeling Willie?'

'Archie is so nice, he telling me all these lovely things in there...'

'Don't listen to him' Dundee screams as the 4th round starts...

So Archie Moore is telling him he is the next champ and how he has a lovely jab and movement and he shouts 'STAND STILL' Willie Pastrano stands completely still and Moore detonates a massive right hook onto Pastranos chin - Pastrano got up to win the remainder of the fight but said he learned a lot from the big old cat.

Reminded me of an article by John 'Iceman' Scully from years ago where he talks about befriending Moore via letter when he was still a kid and how Moore used to offer him advice through his amateur career

One of the tricks he said Moore taught him was to yell into his opponent's ear in the clinch to disorientate them. God knows if Scully ever put that one to use.

Donnie LaLonde when he was took the distance by former middleweight contender Mustafa Hashmo who was pretty ancient by the time LaLonde fought him - he won but said it was the first time he was hit by combination fouls! As you could imagine with Hashmo - he was a rough customer even amongst the 80's middleweights.
