Who are the 20 best fighters you have SEEN fight?
Here ya go. For the sticklers like EO, who think fighters of yesteryear simply can't measure up because nobody has seen 'em.
Here's the conversation for you guys.
Who are the best fighters you've actually seen fight. Go.

You've not made it clear - do you mean live at the event? or Just every boxer you've ever watched footage of past or present? or Just or the boxers you've watched since you started watching boxing? or?

Re: Who are the 20 best fighters you have SEEN fight?
You can always count on jip. Tito significantly greater than Hopkins. :Tyson top 10 and no holy. lol:
Re: Who are the 20 best fighters you have SEEN fight?
I'll probably do 2 separate lists. The first one which will be easier for me to think of is the 20 best fighters I've seen in real time since becoming a major fan of the sport in late 2001. Some of these guys had their best moments prior to 2001, but I'll go ahead, and count 'em even if I was first exposed to 'em in their later stages.
1. Floyd Mayweather Jr.
2. Manny Pacquiao
3. Bernard Hopkins
4. Lennox Lewis
5. Roy Jones Jr.
6. James Toney
7. Marco Antonio Barrera
8, Juan Manuel Marquez
9. Erik Morales
10. Roman Gonzalez
11. Vasyl Lomachenko
12. Oleksandr Usyk
13. Gennady Golovkin
14. Wladimir Klitschko
15. Tyson Fury
16. Shane Mosley
17. Sergio Martinez
18. Oscar De La Hoya
19. Kostya Tszyu
20. Jose Luis Castillo
I'm probably forgetting somebody, but this feels right to me. Winky Wright, might deserve JLC's spot, but I'm a big fan of JLC so I admit to just wanting to include him.

Jlc is greater than tszyu, Sergio, wlad, fury. Ggg, usyk and lomachenko. You're good there.
Re: Who are the 20 best fighters you have SEEN fight?
I left out Andre Ward and Joe Calzaghe, they'd surely fall in the Top 20 somewhere. Hell Ward would have to rank in the Top 10, even though I'm not a fan. I just forgot about him.

Re: Who are the 20 best fighters you have SEEN fight?
I misread your post: I posted what I thought were the twenty best fighters I'd gone to see live.
The twenty best fighters I have actually seen would be a completely different list.
Re: Who are the 20 best fighters you have SEEN fight?
If I simply posted the 20 best fighters I actually saw fight in the flesh it'd be an extremely unimpressive list.Syntax Error wrote: ↑06 Apr 2020, 08:09I misread your post: I posted what I thought were the twenty best fighters I'd gone to see live.

Re: Who are the 20 best fighters you have SEEN fight?
If I am a “stickler”, then the IBHoF must be too, since they also choose to refrain from comparing old-timers to modern-day fighters.
The former category requires validation by historians & researchers (that need to thoroughly investigate an old-timers qualification credentials, predominantly via textbooks, newspapers, interview transcripts etc.).
Whereas the latter category can be voted on by journalists and members of the boxing community, using their own knowledge/expertise, coupled with the proverbial eyeball test, since they would have actually seen modern-day fighters compete.
For instance, journalists like Doug Fischer or Dan Rafael have often refrained from participating in the voting polls for the IBHoF old-timers category, for the very reason I’ve just conveyed.
Regardless, the names being mentioned in this thread appear to wholeheartedly support my argument.
Finally, just to make myself clear, I’ve never claimed that old-timers cannot be considered great, but I do feel that where there’s almost a complete absence of film footage, they shouldn’t be compared to modern day fighters.
Re: Who are the 20 best fighters you have SEEN fight?
We get it. You're a fussy prick that needs to let it be known every now and again. This thread was for you. Hope you enjoy it, now take your obnoxious attitude, and stick it up your ass.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑07 Apr 2020, 05:46If I am a “stickler”, then the IBHoF must be too, since they also choose to refrain from comparing old-timers to modern-day fighters.

I don’t think there was anything particularly obnoxious about what I’ve written, but it seems you're a rather sensitive guy, so I sincerely apologise for any emotional trauma or distress my words may have caused.
Anyway, there’s really no point in me submitting another post to this thread, because you’ll simply post more unprovoked abuse.
Re: Who are the 20 best fighters you have SEEN fight?
That post wasn't about your comment here so much as it was about how you carry this same exact demeanor into seemingly every thread.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑07 Apr 2020, 06:04I don’t think there was anything particularly obnoxious about what I’ve written, but it seems you're a rather sensitive guy, so I sincerely apologise for any emotional trauma or distress my words may have caused.![]()

This "I know more than you, so bow down to me and my research" attitude.
Somebody needed to knock you down a peg.

You'd have to search long to find someone who knows less.
