Boredom cure ABSOLUTE WAR Arnold Oborotov VS Lukasz Kupadziorow

Post by Cyclops »

I was at work last night and during some downtime looked at my instagram and saw the highlights of this fight in my feed. This is a f*cking sick fight and a weird one to me because Arnold was like the 'Big Dog' at the gym I used to train at in Hackney, KO Bloodline, and although I don't think I ever got anything more than a nod from him (like all 'Real' gyms, if you're not competing nobody really notices you)I still felt a certain sense of pride watching him fight.

Anyway, for those who have never seen it, KPG World Heavyweight Title Fight between Arnold Oborotov VS Lukasz Kupadziorow. it's like Street Fighter 2 with blood and missing teeth. Well worth a watch or a re-watch, especially if you're on lockdown.

Enjoy!

It's really great, right? It's a shame this sub-forum doesn't get much traffic. There's boxing guys in the main forums that would love this. It kind of has everything. It's a classic.

It's a hidden gem. Hopefully other posters will get bored and scroll down to the MMA/Kickboxing forum and check it out.

I don't think they earn all that much. I know another high profile kick boxer, Charlie Boy Peters, and they all seem to PT on the side. I think they fight for the love of fighting. This lockdown has made me think that I need to start making more of the kickboxing shows. They're always in small halls so you're right there and there's always good fights, and the fighters have passion because it's not about the money. It also makes me think I want to get back training kickboxing again. I'm still in my 30s so I think I've still got a fight in me, matched right.

Kickboxing is the pinnacle of combat sports for entertainment at its best, the old K1 wars were just sick, like taking great boxing wars and condensing them into a shorter but more explosive and crazy package

I don't understand how kickboxing/k1/Muay Thai hasn't taken off more in the UK. In terms of who would win with hardly any rules, yes MMA is more interesting. But BJJ isn't all that enjoyable to watch, especially if you've haven't trained it.

These fights are fists, kicks, knees, depending on the competition elbows also... Whatever it is always stand up fighting.

They are fantastic fights and very brave kids. Like I said before, I will make a point of attending these shows regularly once the lockdown finishes. My favourite sport is boxing, but even though I'll go to the big shows, I generally couldn't be bothered to watch am or low level boxing fights, not unless I've heard something about or know somebody who's working with somebody who's mustard. But if asked I'll gladly attend kickboxing events and even inter-club spars: at the lower levels its so much more entertaing its not even funny.

This is in the One Fighting Championships. Top class fighters. Jonathan Haggerty is one of the best technical strikers I’ve seen. Sam A is a stadium legend in Thailand.

Any of Dillian Whyte's K1 fights worth watching?

Tbh I’ve never liked Whyte so I’ve never watched anything of him aside from the build up to his fight with Joshua. Seems a right wank.

Big Aerts fought till well we’ll past his best and was still getting big wins at the end of his career. I’m sure it was Semmy Schilt took the title in K1 from him. Legend.

there's a couple of really good analysis videos out there showing how Buakaw utilises some 'western boxing' techniques more so than most MT guys

saw his fight with a favourite of mine, that Armenian dude out of Italy, Petrosian that's it, lovely southpaw skills with the counter left hand. Buakaw shoulda won that though, he Muay thai'd his ass :shame:

Buakaw seems to just do enough that he thinks he’s won: he’s very dismissive of most opponents strikes. I remember watching the first fight with Souwer live and being shocked how Andy’s punches hurt Buakaw. Hadn’t seen him like that before. He had to be using the throws or he’d have been beaten inside the distance I reckon.
