Funny. If fighting fighters such as Michalczewski, Maske, Tiozzo (x2), Mormeck (x2) and Lalonde on thier home turf doesnt constitute a road warrior, I dont know what does.TerribleTerry wrote:Is he??Axe wrote:Virgil Hill
North Dacota's favourite son...hadn't heard that before. Are there even travellers/gypsies in the US?
(Do you just mean he lives in a mobile home community?..)

I am reporting this post as it is offensive and prejudiced.sligobhoy67 wrote:Gypsy being a euphemism for uncontrollable, thieving, scumbag!!!viciousmaussa wrote:travellers being a euphemism for gypsyAxe wrote: Funny. I believe Sammy Smith from Bracknell is of travelling stock, as is Jamie Hearn too.
There are a lot of travellers at the amateur gyms these days. Raw aggression is a good tool from which to develop skills. Trouble is, their natural fighting instinct often gets the better of them when they should be boxing, using the jab etc and they get drawn into a fight. Barney is the only one who uses his skills and very rarely gets into a brawl.

You have misunderstood what we mean in this country by a 'traveller'. Here we mean someone who is part of the gypsy community.Axe wrote:Funny. Regardless of that fact, Hil is a poor example. Despite travelling to get fights in the latter part of his career, in his pomp Hill was a 'stay at home champ' who happily racked up the defences in his back yard of Bismark North Dacota.
A better example in my eyes would have been say Glenn Johnson or Winky Wright - these guys made their names fighting in their opponents back yards..
Yes Sammy is a traveller and one of the nicest guys you could wish to meet, as is his half brother Sam ( Lardy ) Price, and young Jamie Hearn who I class as friends as I do George Carman. Both George and Jamie live less than 1 mile from me as does another traveling community boxer Ryan Walls. I must say I find it highly offensive for people to call travellers Uncontrollable, thieving scum per se, go onto any housing estate and you will see dozens of people like that. However it doesn't mean everyone who lives on a housing estate is scum, as it doesn't mean all travellers are bad cos a few are.Boxingmad wrote:I believe Sammy Smith from Bracknell is of travelling stock, as is Jamie Hearn too.

Agree, Sammy Smith is just one of the nicest blokes around, always polite, friendly and very easy-going. His dad's a nice bloke too.
Although I must admit, I can see where the whole negative thing about travellers comes from. Whenever they pitch up, they always leave a mess where they are, and generally cause trouble. The number of break-ins in my area always go up. That's not a generalised statement, that is FACT. But as you said, there's good and bad wherever you go. However, since meeting the lads mentioned above, my opinion of them has changed for the better definately and it's always a pleasure to see them.
