He looks like Paul O Grady, so he has a face for TV - but without sounding harsh his broad Scottish accent makes him difficult to understand.
Not all the great sportsman, make the greatest pundit.
Ricky Hatton - just doesn't look appealing or sound particularly great with his gravelly voice and limited vocabularly. Kenny Daglish another for football.
Whereas the master of pundits, the sorely missed Jim Watt - if you asked a non boxing fan who he was - they would never say he was a boxer.
Minter used to be a pundit on the BBC quite frequently.

I had the privilege of meeting Ken at the IBHOF in 2012. When he found out I was a Canadian sportswriter, he asked me about Al Ford, who was ranked No. 3 in the world when they squared off in a non-title bout at Empire Pool on March 28, 1972. When I replied that Ford was an acquaintance, Ken invited me to join him for breakfast the next morning, where he enthusiastically recounted his 10-rounder with Ford as well as his impressions of the co-main event (welterweight champ Jose Napoles vs Ralph Charles) and Joe Bugner and John Conteh in the prelims. Midway through breakfast we were joined by George Chuvalo, and it was fascinating to listen to the two old fighters exchange "war stories" for the next couple of hours. Two the most gracious gentleman I ever interviewed.
