"I am going to fight again, the date and the rival are not yet known but the fight will be in Madrid," said Martinez to Radio FM 94.7
"The best things you can find in boxing are the balance and security that it causes. It is a matter of mettle and strengthening, and in my case I could not find it in other sports and in other areas of life."
"It is a pity that we now realize the importance of being united and finding something positive in this negative. In the quarantine I plan the days out well, I have many things to do and I am constantly busy, and that is very good. You cannot stand still, because the world keeps turning. This is going to be behind at some point and we will have to keep moving, there is progress," said Martinez. from BS
I was a fan of Martinez's boxing style and also because he started boxing at 20 y/o and he succeeded to beat top guys like Pavlik and P.W. He was a truly gifted athlete. But I don't understand why he wants to get his head hammered at this stage of his life ? He 's so broke? Martinez didn't look like a reckless type of fighter that would spend all of his money on flashy things. Anyway I think he ain't gonna say NO to GGG atm.
Golovkin is everything bad for even prime Martinez. And i am a big Sergio fan. At 45 years of age with his style relying on footwork, speed and reflexes, he is asking for a brain damage if he return to the ring again
Yeah, Martinez didn't have the chin to beat GGG. His outside game and speed would bother GGG for 4 rounds, but whenever Sergio opened up in close, he'd get clipped and GGG wouldn't let him recover.

I mean his rematch with Chavez Jr. was a better idea than this, and he'd lose that too, but at least he'd probably be mildly competitive first.
Indeed the rematch with Jr was a better idea but I think Martinez just wants first to shake off that ring rust and see if he still has some gas left in his tank/test his legs. Anyway if the rematch will ever happen I think the fight would be at 168-170 lbs and Martinez would get beat imo.

Indeed G would crush Martinez. Atm Golovkin is a big name and Martinez may think he could make some good money.

Golovkin beats Martinez any time between 2012 and 2020.
Yup. What it would be interesting is to see G fighting the guys that he could not get back in the day like Martinez, Quillin and JCCJr. Considering GGG's good profile and that he is looking past of his prime I don't think guys like Martinez, JCCJr and Quillin would refuse to fight him and get some good paychecks.

Yup. G was on another level and a different kind of monster. If a young in his prime Canelo could not beat an old version of Golovkin then imagine how strong G was in 2012 .

Sergio could've been a nice looking win on GGG's record even though by that time Serg was needing a walker, sucks for G that Cotto got to him first
Well, yes but let's be honest Martinez was old and he chased the big money fights. He fought JCCJr and Cotto. Golovkin vs Martinez fight would've been an interesting match in 2010-2011-2012 but at that time GGG was an unknown very risky fighter who was fighting guys like Ouma and Proksa.
