My two biggest boxing wishes are these two fighting on their original date and holy getting to beat up Mike before prison.

What you think what would have happened if Marvelous and The Hitman fought in their original date back in May 1982?Onetimeonly wrote: ↑15 Apr 2020, 16:29 My two biggest boxing wishes are these two fighting on their original date and holy getting to beat up Mike before prison.

I'm not sure. But the motor city cobra is better suited for the fight than the hitman. I'll never forget turning on HBO and a who concert was on. No idea it was cancelled. Always wondered how well Hearns would have done had he tried to stay play it safer and tried to outbox Hagler instead of going toe to toe. My guess it that he would build up a lead, but Hagler would have eventually to him in the later rounds. But maybe not.

Hard to say, his legs were much better then and Marvin didn't have big event experience. If he was as tentative as he was with Duran hearns would have a good shot.Ambling Alp II wrote: ↑16 Apr 2020, 12:46 Always wondered how well Hearns would have done had he tried to stay play it safer and tried to outbox Hagler instead of going toe to toe. Shocking how fast Hearns legs went soggy, the guy is spaghetti after hardly a round, obivously Haggy was a beast but even then it's striking. This was a writing on the wall beatdown for the most part, not competitive enough for the plaudits it gets, Hearns was a saggy mess before the end of round 1
And was it really 35 years ago? That's more than twice Sam McVea's age when he fought JJ![[icon_e_surprised.gif] :oo](./images/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif)

Something was obviously off. It damn sure wasn't a massage. I'm guessing anxiety, especially after breaking his right hand at the start of that firefight. Plus, hacker beat the shit out of him. He was hurt. I agree it's overrated, mugabi was greater, but the event was awesome. That's a top atmosphere ever waiting on the first bell.
Re: 35 Years Ago Today
I'm sorry, but in no way, shape, or form does 1982 Hearns beat 1982 Hagler.

Marvin was probably right at his peak in 82, I think he'd have caught up with Tommy at some point.Onetimeonly wrote: ↑16 Apr 2020, 13:18Hard to say, his legs were much better then and Marvin didn't have big event experience. Marvelous proved that he had a hell of a chin. ANOTHER middleweight wouldn't take those wicked shots from The Hitman.
LIKE Al Michaels said, "It was only 3 rounds, but it was a beauty!".... And S beauty it was. THESE two gave everything they had that night.
