I had the same score but I gave Haye the 3rd and 12th. Wlad successfully controlled distance and pawed his way to most of the rounds. Haye prob had the best single moments of the fight, but there were like only 2 of them and Wlad was never in trouble

Same score, for all the talk of Vitali being ahead it easily could've been 3-3 (and of course the man had no face)

Here is how I scored it.
Round 1: Coetzee (scores a knockdown)
Round 2: Coetzee
Round 3: Coetzee
Round 4: Coetzee (scores a knockdown)
Round 5: Snipes
Round 6: Even
Round 7: Coetzee
Round 8: Snipes
Round 9: Even
Round 10: Even
Total: 5-2-3 Coetzee
Rounds 6, 9 & 10 I scored even as they became sloppy and mauling. It was near impossible to pick anyone out deserving those rounds and I never like to choose on the basis of 'finding it necessary' to pick someone excelling in a non-deserving instance. So there you have it. Anyone else see this one?

Re: Post Your Scorecards
Yeah, the first and the last ones were the closest rounds. The first because it was the most cautious, both were peering at each other, while the final one was the most action packed, with both scoring and hurting each other.scartissue wrote: ↑16 Apr 2020, 21:46 Round 1: Even

Re: Post Your Scorecards
I know many of you are very familiar with watching Chris Eubank, but I only saw his 2 bouts with Benn and wanted to see more of him. I recall reading up on all his title defenses when he was champ and he seemed to do just enough at times to retain his title. So, I checked out his first fight with Ray Close. And to begin, Eubank is one strange fighter to watch.
Round 1: 10-9 Close
Round 2: 10-9 Eubank
Round 3: 10-9 Close
Round 4: 10-9 Close
Round 5: 10-9 Close
Round 6: 10-9 Close
Round 7: 10-9 Eubank
Round 8: 10-10 Even
Round 9: 10-9 Eubank
Round 10: 10-9 Eubank
Round 11: 10-8 Eubank (scores a knockdown)
Round 12: 10-10 Even
Total: 115-114 Eubank
Actual scores were 116-113 for Close, 116-112 for Eubank and 115-115 Even for a Draw decision. Harry Gibb, on the telecast I watched had it 116-113 for Eubank.
To begin, Eubank - aside from the fact that he is one strange character - fights in spurts and then goes into a lull which makes getting a handle on him more difficult for the judge. Ray Close - although unspectacular - fought with good fundamentals, came in ready to go the distance and never let up, jabbing, fighting in close and kept the hustle on Eubank all the time. I don't have an issue with the draw decision even though on my card the knockdown saved it for Eubank.
Round 1: 10-9 Close
Round 2: 10-9 Eubank
Round 3: 10-9 Close
Round 4: 10-9 Close
Round 5: 10-9 Close
Round 6: 10-9 Close
Round 7: 10-9 Eubank
Round 8: 10-10 Even

Round 10: 10-9 Eubank
Round 11: 10-8 Eubank (scores a knockdown)
Round 12: 10-10 Even

Re: Post Your Scorecards
Thanks, I'll put them on my list. I am well-versed in both of their fights but I never watched them. Give it a go over the next few days. In the meantime, check out this one:
Carl Thompson v Chris Eubank I
Round 1: 10-9 Eubank
Round 2: 10-9 Eubank
Round 3: 10-9 Thompson
Round 4: 10-8 Eubank (scores a knockdown)
Round 5: 10-10 Even
Round 6: 10-9 Thompson
Round 7: 10-9 Thompson (Eubank blew it! He had him and just stared at him. That is a moment in time that should justifiably haunt him)
Round 8: 10-9 Thompson (best round of the fight)
Round 9: 10-9 Thompson
Round 10: 10-9 Thompson
Round 11: 10-9 Thompson
Round 12: 10-9 Thompson
Total: 116-112 Thompson
At times it looked like a boy against a man, the size difference was that much and his corner would have been justified to pull him out late in the fight due to him floundering the last four rounds with the handicap of the closed left eye. But still, whatever one can say about Eubank, he had heart and I found myself screaming at the screen to 'get in there'.

Funny how I never bothered to watch this one before. Much better performance from Holyfield than that sleep-walking performance in the first fight. I was actually rooting for Vander from a fight that took place years ago, which is how much I got into it.

Re: Post Your Scorecards
Quite close to my score. As it can be seen on the previous page of the thread, I also gave Holy the 6th, the 7th and the 12 rounds. However, I had no even rounds, the others I scored for Lennox. Yeah, it was a better effort of Evander, than in the first bout, yet Lewis controlled the fight. It was the last time, when Holyfield was still there. He appeared way past it in his next fight and unfortunately he was trying to reanimate his career for too long.scartissue wrote: ↑19 Apr 2020, 11:51 Lennox Lewis v Evander Holyfield II

The most electrifying atmosphere for a fight I've ever seen, and that was just on TV. After the theme from Rocky, Danny Boy and then the thousands chanting "Barry Barry" I turned to my buddy and said "there's no way he's losing". Pedroza's 7 year 19 fight reign came to an end, because he ran into a guy who kept him under constant pressure for 15 rds. I thought the real turning point was the 8th round when Pedroza made a good start after getting floored previously in the 7th, only to have Barry take the round back in the last 30 seconds or so. At the end of the bout McGuigan looked ready to go another 15. To his credit, Pedroza bounced back 3 times after being hurt to make it to the final bell. For me it was one of the greatest moments in boxing history.

Here is a good one from the archives, Jose Stable vs Curtis Cokes. Scored on the NY rounds system (which sucks).

Round 3: Stable
Round 4: Stable
Round 5: Cokes
Round 6:Cokes
Round 7: Stable
Round 8: Cokes (I had this round even except for Stable's low blow. In NY, they simply awarded the fighter who was on the receiving end of an infraction the round)
Round 9: Cokes
Round 10: Even
Total: 5-4-1 Cokes
Actual scores were 5-4-1 (twice) and 6-4 all for Stable. Very close rounds where Stable dominated the infighting and Cokes dominated on the outside with his jab, right hand and uppercut, which was really getting to Stable. The 10th round was a tough one. Stable was letting it all hang out and was winning the round on my card when Cokes caught him with a right that staggered him momentarily and then followed up with a couple of more before Stable went on the attack again. I felt it was enough to pull the round even on my card but not enough to sway it either way. But one close fight whatever way we look at it.

I don't think that no champion would of come victorious on that night in Loftus Road Stadium, Seamus. There was about 80,000 people there, none rooting for the great Eusebio Pedroza unless you were one of his cornermen. It was one the greatest moments in British boxing, indeed. Barry McGuigan, energized by the crowd, was terrific! It was time for Pedroza's long reign to end. HE was a fantastic champion.Seamus wrote: ↑20 Apr 2020, 08:37 Barry McGuigan vs Eusebio Pedroza

I'll just say Hatton got away with a lot there and won it on his physicality. That referee Dave Parris reminded me a lot of the WBA's house referee Stanley Christodolou. Caution, caution and caution but never take a point away. Actual scores were 107-102, 106-103 and 105-104 all for Hatton.

ALSO, Pedroza got the biggest payday of his career that night in Loftus Road. HE got $1,000,000 dollars!
