Bob Arum wants to use WWE Performance Center in Summer

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

If nothing changes by then, he’s looking to schedule cards from Florida, at WWE’s own training facility.

Thoughts on this?

It's a facility that is fully equiped to support an in-ring on TV sporting event, so why not? I'd bet, though, that he is just dipping his stick a bit.

Anybody watched crowdless WWE or soccer (football) events, they’re shït!

It won’t work for boxing either.

Zero atmosphere = zero excitement

Imagine Tyson vs. Douglas, but with zero noise, rather than a few gasps?

I often watch with mute on . A lot of crowds aren't even that lively anyway

Maybe we’ll get fair judging too.

The last ShoBox card that had a relatively small crowd there (just immediately family, officials and trainers) was still fine to watch by me.

The Crowd doesn't make as big a difference in an actual fight as it does with Wrestling.

I mean you wouldn't want to have a big PPV megafight with no crowd, but just average Boxing matches would be fine.

A lot of crowds aren't very expressive tbh, the whole wild British atompshere is very much the exception

The crowd just helps keep my attention. It won't be any fights of significance, but it will get some guys more views.

It makes a lot of sense to me.

Obviously not for the big names, as they have made enough money to sit a few months out and hang fire until big promotions are allowed.

But for the lower level guys and up and coming prospects, these guys need to get in the ring ASAP as most have no other way to make a living.

Obviously Florida will have to softened distancing restrictions first, but it is not inconceivable that will have happened by the summer (Trump is talking like he wants to do it tomorrow, but then, he is a moron).

We'll find out if any top guys are living crazy outside their means because nobody is getting their usual number with no gate.

Dude there are still contenders that need to eat. Journeymen that need to pay rent.
If Arum puts on a card with no crowd there will be something to entertain us
He wont put on a card with nothing but sccrubs

You don't need big names to put together an entertaining card.
A few fringe contenders in evenly matched fights would be more than welcome.

They could make sound like they do in sitcoms. Computer crowd sound, with a sound engineer who adjust the crowdsound when something exciting happens

That would be pretty funny! Especially if the judges were swayed by the fake crowd noise.

Your agenda to keep sports from happening is curious. And likely politically fueled. You would rather NO SPORTS than sports with no fans? That is nonsensical. Anything is better than nothing. As long as proper testing protocols are in place for fighters and staff. “But it’s not the same without fans”. Well...no kidding! This is like someone giving you the option of having $1000 or $0 and you complaining because you’re not getting $5000.
You take the $1000!

we in the technology era, we should make fake fans, virtual fans, like in video games. seeing how boing a lot of fans are, maybe the virtual fans with fake sounds could bring more atmosphere than real fans.

My agenda? Really?

From a personal perspective, I have no influence as to whether sporting events take place or not. No one even listens to me... ever!

My thoughts are based on real-world events and restrictions, not naive child-like optimism.

I don’t want there to be deaths or for people to endure a traumatic experience due to COVID-19.

I don’t want there to be mass unemployment, bankrupt economies and massive debt due to government lockdowns.

I don’t want there to be any restrictions imposed on people’s freedom, which results in them being stuck indoors with very little to do, affecting their mental health and happiness.

I’d love to see live sport again on TV, but it isn’t going to happen for quite some time... and those rare sporting events that do take place eventually, will inevitably be compromised severely and presented in a format that is far inferior than what we’re all accustomed to (as per the real-world examples I previously supplied).

I’m sorry, but is my stance on this matter really so abhorrent and unreasonable?

Why do you and like-minded individuals always insist on misrepresenting my opinion, by accusing me of believing in things that I’ve never even written?

Especially now. A great time to try something new. I'd bet even a card of no names would make some dough. I"d pay 25.00 for a night of boxing right now.
