Welterweight 15 rds.
I think Laing was a much better fighter than the little bit of publicity he received after beating Duran. The focus after ,was more of Duran being washed up( which we know he wasnt)rather than how skilled Laing was.Laing would outbox him for the decision.

Lloyd a different class and would beat Kirk
Re: Kirkland Laing vs Loyd Honeyghan
Maybe, but I was never impressed with him.I just figure his style was all wrong for Curry,is what got that win.
.If you remember ,Starling walked him down like the boogeyman. From memory he really looked scared during the Starling fight. But I could be wrong. It wouldn't be the 7,286th time...

Re: Kirkland Laing vs Loyd Honeyghan
Lloyds got the big win against Curry doesn't he, hard to top that considering Curry was widely regarded as one of the best boxers in the world at that point, maybe even number 1 P4P.
Kirkland Laing's style was very unusual, hands down relying on reflexes and power but wide open.
Colin Jones beat Laing back to back and Buck Smith took him out with a left hook in 7.
Got to be Honeyghan.

Re: Kirkland Laing vs Loyd Honeyghan
Even aside from the Currey fight Honey was much better than Kirk, Kirk was really a 1 hit wonder at world level and got smashed shortly after, whereas Lloyd was well established and delivered more because he was a better fighter and more disciplined, chances are Kirk would come unstuckzuru wrote: ↑16 Apr 2020, 20:32 Maybe, but I was never impressed with him.I just figure his style was all wrong for Curry,is what got that win.

Re: Kirkland Laing vs Loyd Honeyghan
Laing's fast, stiff punches had the potential to cause Honeyghan problems, but Kirkland was no Mark Breland, and if we're talking about them boxing at their best then I'd go for Lloyd. Shame we never got to see it happen.
