Gary stretch

Post by Steveh583 »

I see that he produced and directed the Ronda rousey documentary currently on Netflix. Nice to see ex boxers making a go of their lives. It's an interesting watch, though obviously the botox wasn't a good idea

You sound like a man of experience banjo.

He's done well as an actor. Decent living to be made in small parts and DTV lead roles.

He done George Collins in the school boys or NABC final ,Collins was something like 75-0 and had already signed with F-warren to turn pro after the fight and stretch spoilt the party.

Was the defeat early in his career a KO or a cuts loss?

Thanks thought it was a cuts loss.
I remember Stretch's fight against Gary Cooper, was one of those fights that's dominated by one boxer but it's still a hard fight for him
Cooper was a proper hard guy, lived in a caravan in the New Forest if my memory serves me right

Did he get knocked out in a chip shop by some rugby player years ago whilst showing off? Is that story true? I know I’ve heard it before

Perhaps we can give him a runout for the corona Virus! A bit of life wouldn't go amiss
He should learn to be less obvious though!

I think it was 3-1-6

Haven't seen full fight, but when I see cards like that it makes me wonder if the away fighter just got 10-10s when he shoulda got the round. I am an advocate for 10-10s but still have almost never scored more than 2 in a fight, and usually it's just 1

I notice in area title fights these scores seem more common, stuff like 98-96

On tele, Record Breakers with Roy Castle (remember that?). Collins was meant to be breaking some sort of record but Stretch KO'd him. They didn't know what the fvck to say or do :maybe:
Collins nearly won the clean sweep of national junior titles.... 4 schoolboy, 2 junior ABA and 3 NABC until the Stretch bout in the class C of the NABCs. Quite a buzz about Stretch knocking Collins out at the time in that final back then. Can only think that the record breakers thing could be about him doing the clean sweep which had already been achieved by Errol Christie a few years before...Christie won the senior ABA title aged 17

Being from the traveller community he may well have been a year or two older whilst winning so many titles and bouts. He had a bumfluff moustache when he was about 14.
