Carl Froch Podcast

Post by MarkMcBurney »

Don't know if anyone else listens to Froch's podcast with Darren Fletcher, but this week Carl was talking about the financial side of the game, very interesting listen, and was talking about promoters who had been in the game a long time and said this:

"Frank W@rren has been around a long time, worked with a lot of fighters; Calzaghe, Hatton, Naz....Terry Marsh. Big fan of Terry Marsh..."

Always found froch hilarious. Don't understand how people don't get his humour. He's also developed into the internet's greatest troll, they never fail to bite when he's fishing.

At the David Haye v Enzo MAC weigh in, Mark Hobson was there pissed with a few other blokes. When Haye was weighing in one shouted ‘ohhhh nice nipples!’

Fran k Warre n then walked out just before Enzo and they shouted ‘ohhhh ah Terry Marsh I said oh ah Terry Marsh.’

No just download a podcast app on your phone. Apple has one called Apple Podcasts but there are loads of others.

Because he has a dry sense of humour not every one gets it. Obviously because he bums himself up a lot as well lol. Bit of a gobsh1te but he's quite funny. I like when Booth rips him

Yes he’s done four behind the scenes type podcasts -

How PPV really works
What happens post fight
Building up to fight night
How to train to win a world title.

Froch is a good talker and has a good sense of humour. What I like is he kept diaries of all his training camps going back years, with his weights and running times etc, makes for an interesting listen.

He does present himself as being tongue in cheek with some of the silly stuff he says; but there is little doubt it hurts his ego enormously that Calzaghe is universally recognized as being superior to him .. he laughed off that even his own fans didn't believe he could have beaten Calzaghe .. but quickly slipped back into how Calzaghe avoided him, and had questionable decisions over very old Jones & Hopkins ..

Froch only mentions Calzaghe because it's all hypothetical - where as he hardly mentions Ward, because Ward demonstrated a superiority in every dept over Froch.

Ward bullied him.

He mocks Calzaghe for fighting an old Hopkins but I'm pretty certain that version of Hopkins would have done to Froch what he did to Pavlik. In fact I recall around the time Froch beat Jermaine Taylor, Hopkins talked up a fight between himself and Froch but Froch wanted no part in it, coming out with the usual "who wants to see that" nonsense like he came out with whenever a Ward rematch was mentioned.

Hop was born old, dude still had a very good run after losing to Joe, beat Pavlik, Pascal, Cloud, Shumenov and was a unified champ when he lost to Kov

Hopkins is a one off. I reckon he’s Joes best win by far. Even though when I watched the fight in slow mo it appeared Calzaghe landed very little while in real time I had him winning the fight. Strange one.

Said it’s before, Carl F is the most sarcastic man in sports. That’s why he rubs some people the wrong way but why he’s hilarious when you let him do his thing.

I’ll come back to you after I’ve listened to these pods

Yes he's very sarcastic, I think he's quite funny. All the Groves in front of 80 thousand stuff he repeats is tongue in cheek, he knows it winds people up so he does it all the more. The guy he does the podcast with Darren Fletcher often says Froch is a wind up merchant.

Finished all of these now, fantastic insight, he’s clearly a smart guy and has kept diaries of all his fights and what he did, definitely worth a listen even if as Stuarty said he does like to bum himself  comes out with some pearlers, made me laugh a lot. Kessler is a great guy, really nice feller and a very good fighter, reminds me of myself
