Buakaw seems to just do enough that he thinks he’s won: he’s very dismissive of most opponents strikes. I remember watching the first fight with Souwer live and being shocked how Andy’s punches hurt Buakaw. Hadn’t seen him like that before. He had to be using the throws or he’d have been beaten inside the distance I reckon.
I'll check out the rest of them ta![]()

Re: Boredom cure ABSOLUTE WAR Arnold Oborotov VS Lukasz Kupadziorow
its really interesting tactical stuff mate two very high-end practitioners with a fascinating style clash (ooh look at me all with the kickboxing knowledge
) Buakaw is much less, umm, dismissive of Petrosyan than he is of most opponents I've seen him against wheer he takes liberties if he wants to, same as Petrosyan clearly accords him a lot of respect and the leg kicks and kicks to body/arms do seem to wear the usually sprightly Petrosyan down
probably the best technical K1 type fight i have seen, though i haven't seen many

I had a session watching some One and Glory action last night mate, some of Petrosyan’s performances were
great late-career surge, I guess he’s been hammering the PED’s, much more aggressive than his style for much of his career. Well worth a watch he is just dominating or destroying decent fighters.

He’s one of the best counter-strikers I’ve seen in any combat sport. I knew him from seeing him a couple of times on Bellator and guessed his level of comp in that wasn’t too high, but he was no less superb against all the top fighters I’ve seen.

Looking back at these fights has actually helped me remember stuff happening in my own life around 2007-2011.
Petrosyan was on the rise in 2009 which was about the time I got mega busy self employed having worked for a company before hand. I totally lost touch with K1 during this time lol. Petrosyan had an incredible career and he is still going strong! Thanks for the recommendation I was up till 3am watching and reading about his fights and career.

Yes. He’s an ATG athlete in that game definitely. His timing is superb. Could be peds of course. It’s rife in that sport. What I don’t know is how they make a living out of it because it doesn’t pay very well at all.Counter-puncher wrote: ↑20 Apr 2020, 06:28Wee Tommy wrote: ↑20 Apr 2020, 05:47 Looking back at these fights has actually helped me remember stuff happening in my own life around 2007-2011.

probably why they're fighting much more than boxers do, Petrosyan had 3 fights in like 8 weeks towards the end of 2019

Thai boxing is actually a little glimpse into the days of Harry Greb etc in boxing, fighters fighting to eat. Folk say things like “how could they fight at a high level all those times” etc. Well the Thais do. Some have 300 fights then switch to boxing and win titles. Tough men in a different world.Counter-puncher wrote: ↑20 Apr 2020, 07:28 probably why they're fighting much more than boxers do, Petrosyan had 3 fights in like 8 weeks towards the end of 2019

Re: Boredom cure ABSOLUTE WAR Arnold Oborotov VS Lukasz Kupadziorow
Reference conversations I am sure we have had before, about the skill levels in boxing nowadays compared with historically, I think the absolute top level MT/K1 guys are a bit better at their craft than most top level boxers. That knack of being relaxed in the ring doesn’t come easy (or ever, for some) but it’s a whole lot easier when you’re doing it for the 100th time (mind, I suppose they fight for fewer rounds as well so that offsets it a bit). But yeah they’re just old-school hard fvckersWee Tommy wrote: ↑20 Apr 2020, 15:08Thai boxing is actually a little glimpse into the days of Harry Greb etc in boxing, fighters fighting to eat. I saw a fight from I guess the early-middle part of Buakaw’s career earlier. I mean, the guy was pretty green at the time, I guess he’d only had about 100 fights or so, and he was up against Nieky Holzken (sp?) who was a good fighter in his own right but pretty green (unironically) at this point.
And Buakaw, it was the K1 final and it was a fvcking sparring session. He didn’t break sweat or breathe heavily the whole time I swear.
He just *knew too much*, way too much, for the other dude. 35 fights in boxing makes you near a veteran nowadays, it was barely an apprenticeship for a fifties guy or a Muay Thai guy now.

Agreed. We have some boxers having great long and tough amateur careers but it’s not quite the same as being a veteran thai. Men are like steel. I nearly came a cropper after a few months in Koh samui area. Had to really hold back at one point when being provoked I realised what looked like a simple fight was a deadly situation. Head was clouded by drink and my pal at the time was grade A crazy. We survived but was close and against a bunch of guys no more than 9 stone a piece. One of them looked an old man but when it got physical he was like a steel cableCounter-puncher wrote: ↑20 Apr 2020, 18:48 I saw a fight from I guess the early-middle part of Buakaw’s career earlier.
