Eddie Hearn USED Dillian Whyte

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

By Charles Brun: Eddie Hearn USED Dillian Whyte as a test fighter against other heavyweights, according to Gerry Cooney. He thinks that Hearn should have given Whyte (27-1, 18 KOs) a shot at a world title a long time ago, and he should stop making the 31-year-old wait.

With Whyte signed to the same promotional company as IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, Hearn could have given Dillian his title shot against him.

Has Hearn protected Joshua from Whyte?

Some boxing fans believe that Hearn has purposefully kept the two fighters from facing each other for fear that Whyte would upset the gravy train by beating Joshua (23-1, 21 KOs).

AJ brings in massive money each time he fights, and it would be bad if Whyte were to knock him out the way that Andy Ruiz Jr. did last June in New York.

Rather than Whyte being used to test other heavyweights, as Cooney believes, he seems to have been moved in a different direction as Joshua in going after the WBC title previously held by Deontay Wilder. Whether that was Hearn who made the decision for Whyte to target the World Boxing Council title is unclear.

In hindsight, it was a waste of time for Whyte to go the WBC route, as he’s used two years of his career spinning his wheels without getting a shot at that belt. At some point, Whyte should have cut his losses and moved on and put pressure on Hearn to schedule a fight between him and Joshua.

Someone should have spoken to Whyte in 2018 and told him to forget about attempting to get a title shot against former WBC champion Wilder because it would involve too much time waiting.

Whyte hasn’t fought anyone that Joshua wouldn’t have as far as Cooney’s comment about Whyte being used to test other heavyweights, it wouldn’t be to protect Joshua.

These are the best heavyweights Whyte has fought:

Oscar Rivas
Joseph Parker
Dereck Chisora
Robert Helenius
---------------

The rest of the guys Whyte has fought have been lower-level fighters, who lacked talent. There’s not much testing Whyte has done in facing those heavyweights. Those matches appear to have been made in order to interest the UK boxing fan in watching Whyte compete on PPV.

Whyte deserves title shot

“Dillian Whyte is the guy who I’ m sorry to say Eddie Hearn use to test all these other guys out, and he succeeded, and he got all those tests and won all those fights,” said Cooney to IFL TV. “Give him a shot for crying out loud. Stop making him wait.

“He’s put up with it. I’d be angrier, but I guess it don’t lead you nowhere. He deserves the shot with Joshua with Fury with Wilder. He wants everybody. So hopefully, he wins his next fight whenever he fights,”
said Cooney.

In all seriousness Whyte has done VERY well, he wouldn’t have been a PPV fighter a few years back.

Whyte turned down 2 final eliminators and a career high pay day against Joshua.
Hearn is not to blame.

Whyte seems to off earnt a lot of money , risen in staturs , and not really fought the higher echelon , except fpr AJ , who if i remember correctly stopped him ... Personaly , i think Whyte should give Eddie a ring , take him out and shout him some fish chips and peas , and a pint of Bitter

I agree, both Hearn and Whyte have earned good money. God knows what Cooney is on about. Lets be fair, and i do like Dillian as an honest fighter and a man, but he is not genuine ppv attraction and he know it. Same as Dereck Chisora. Ok, I get that Dillian may have earned as much in one fight as three for a title shot but if he is honest with himself the trade off for not having the title fight is making coin over and above in ppv fights. I agree the fights were tough but if they were normal non ppv fights instead of ppv Dillian's bank balance would be lot poorer.

I think Cooney is feeling the effects of that uppercut from Foreman

Whyte got flattened by AJ and would have been done again. He's a limited fighter and has no right to be a PPV fighter at all.

Hearn is a weapon but he's made Whyte an ass load of money and raised his profile like nobody else could. Hearn is entitled to use him after that! Yeah he deserves his shot but whoever he fights he's earning a wedge so who cares? Whyte bangs on like he's all principled n sh1t but i bet he couldn't give a monkeys anus about who he fights! :maybe:

Whyte really is a good example of that saying .... Ceated a MONSTER ..... Hearn has done such a good job of building him up , that Whyte himself has bought into the Hype ,, Facts are he is good but not at the elite level , he should'nt be in the spot he is now ,, but he is ,, he should'nt be PPV but he is , ,,, If he really wanted to back himself with confidence , he would of took that 2nd fight with AJ , Lose and walk away with what was it 5 million ,,, win and he would of been the man ,,, But no he did'nt want to back himself .

Most fighters would happily milk easy paydays. Why not? it's understandable. It's a misnomer to think that all fighters want to fight the best. I had a lot of respect for Hopkins when he called Kovalev out in his 50s.

And i don't blame them one little bit ,, In fact Whyte manages himself so i believe ,, and he has shown to be a very good manager ,, its simple a managers job to get the highest pay for the easist fights and he has excelled .. He's certainly had a good carreer in that regard ,,

,, however i do still think he should get down on his knees and thank Eddie Hearn

He's turned down the aj rematch as well as other title eliminator fights, plus aj decisively beat him.

Think he's a very limited fighter who should be thankful that Eddie has protected him so well and made him a ppv main eventer.
