I can hardly wait.

Cuban boxing post-Castro will completely change the pro game (like the fall of Eastern Europe did...) when hundreds or even thousands turn pro.
Anyway, that's my thoughts on it - see you again in five years from now...![]()
Realize you're being reactionary but that's a bit much. Cubans have often been a letdown in the Pros. Ortiz should've handled Wilder twice but got bombed out instead. He always looked too stiff to me anyway. Deontay by KO 10 times out of 10.

Yeah, but the best amateurs don't make the best pros (for example - Tillman and Tyson...) I reckon the best pros to come out of Cuba won't be their amateur standouts but there are so many boxers there and is a boxing culture in all the weight divisions that they will make a noise when they can turn pro on their island.Blodhemn wrote: ↑22 Apr 2020, 02:49Carlos wrote: ↑21 Apr 2020, 23:12 I don't usually venture onto the CS because it is a fornicating zoo of gormless opinions but I am shocked to the core that there hasn't been a mention of Cuba on this thread - because once they are open for business, their fighters from their sporting system will be turning pro and there will be loads of them and loads of them will definitely be black.![]()

Shit - this is my second post in history of this forum! See you back on the OT, Blodhemn

Yeah, it's just hard to say how much longer and in what form boxing will exist in the US. There isn't a market for an extra thousand, especially when nobody even cares about American born ones. But obviously a lot of talent there in Cuba, in need of the right connections to not let it go to waste.Carlos wrote: ↑22 Apr 2020, 02:54

Cuban heavyweights have turned pro and had their chances and failed.Carlos wrote: ↑21 Apr 2020, 23:12 I don't usually venture onto the CS because it is a fornicating zoo of gormless opinions but I am shocked to the core that there hasn't been a mention of Cuba on this thread - because once they are open for business, their fighters from their sporting system will be turning pro and there will be loads of them and loads of them will definitely be black.![]()

Odlanier Solis, Luis Ortiz, Mike Perez, Jorge Luis Gonzalez, Juan Carlos Gomez etc
Cubans are great amateurs, but don't tend to transition well to the pros.

Nonsense, you don't know this because around a dozen Cuban heavyweights have turned pro - their system has THOUSANDS of fighters - some of them will do very well as pros.Steel City wrote: ↑22 Apr 2020, 09:18Cuban heavyweights have turned pro and had their chances and failed.Carlos wrote: ↑21 Apr 2020, 23:12 I don't usually venture onto the CS because it is a fornicating zoo of gormless opinions but I am shocked to the core that there hasn't been a mention of Cuba on this thread - because once they are open for business, their fighters from their sporting system will be turning pro and there will be loads of them and loads of them will definitely be black.![]()

A good amateur doesn't always make a succcessful pro - there are tons of examples in British and American boxing - Tyrell Biggs, Peter Richardson, Danny Watts, Audley etc etc I could be all day naming them - Henry Tillman beat Mike Tyson in the amateurs, lasted a round with him in the pros.
There will be heavyweights there who will do a lot better in the pro game than they are doing now in the Cuban amateur system - but as Blodhelm has stated, if they go to America - there isn't going to be room for them all if they want to be looked after because the game is going one way, that doesn't mean they won't try.

Who are the top American basketball stars at the moment? Maybe we could reach out to them and they could take over the division and make it great again, like Wilt Chamberlain could've done
Or maybe go the Jack Johnson route, and search out 6 foot tall 185 pound guys who are great at hugging smaller men and teenagers. Automatic #3 atg status![[icon_e_surprised.gif] :oo](./images/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif)

When you invent a time machine that has these players start boxing at 12 years old, wake me up. I could use an alternative reality about now.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑22 Apr 2020, 17:06 Who are the top American basketball stars at the moment? Re: Wilder - was he the last Great Black Hope?
Maybe the latter route is the way to go then
Re: Wilder - was he the last Great Black Hope?
i dont think there is one yet Michael Hunter would not beat wilder, i dont think he would ever beat wilder, denton is a huge man with a huger punch, boxing goes in waves be interesting to see the next big star as he will have to be more than just big
Re: Wilder - was he the last Great Black Hope?
With AJ, Dubois, and others out there, the question is patently moronic.
Seems to be quite a competition out there for the stupidest posts. Granted, it's <10% of posters.

Re: Wilder - was he the last Great Black Hope?

Re: Wilder - was he the last Great Black Hope?
There's also a Joey Dawjki or something. There was a white HW who used to post here. Nice guy.
Re: Wilder - was he the last Great Black Hope?
Ah, well, more contenders would be an American white guy but they're all doing UFC now, you see?

If you’d read the first post in this thread, you’d be able to comprehend the topic being discussed and appreciate the fact we’re meant to be talking about American fighters.
I am actually “shocked to the core” about the severity of your “fornicating gormless opinion”!
Less criticism, more reading and thinking kid!

Cuba is part of the Americas therefore - they're American fighters.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑24 Apr 2020, 10:51If you’d read the first post in this thread, you’d be able to comprehend the topic being discussed and appreciate the fact we’re meant to be talking about American fighters.

Cuba isn’t part of America, it’s an independent country!
Cuban fighters aren't American, so they're out-of-scope of this thread! FFS!

This guy is clearly a comedian!

And when informed that the topic of the thread is actually about American fighters...
That's one hell of a punchline!
