Boxers Entering Ring or Ring Walking with Props

Post by Alguiffer »

To pass time thought it would be fun to identify boxers that use props when they enter the ring and/or during their ring walk.
A few that come to mind (please add to list):

1. Joshua Greer - Night Night Pillow
2. Regis Progais - Rougaru Headpiece
3. Nicholas Walters - Large Wooden Axe
4. Danny Garcia - Tear Mask
5. Donte Wilder - Various Masks and Futuristic Outfits
6. Moises Flores - Chuckie Doll
7. David Benavidez - Large Sombrero Type Hat
8. Subastian Fundo - Large Sombrero Type Hat
8. Emanuel Colon - Buffalo Head Headpiece
9. Micky Garcia - Cowboy Hat
10. Abner Mares - Death Mask

There was a South American boxer that would wear a Popeye the Sailor cap and have a corn cob pipe in his mouth - can't recall his name.

The first ten gets it started, there must be loads more - please contribute - thanks.

I've also noticed a number of Thai fighters walk to the ring with a portrait of whoever their king was at the time

I hear Kelly Pavlik initially planned to enter wearing a white sheet, to live up to his ghost nickname, but for some reason it didn't go over to well :OhYes:

I forget the fight, but I recall Demarcus Corley coming to the ring with an Egyptian Pharaoh get-up one time.

Obviously Wilder's recent prop will go down in infamy due to his comments.

Naseem Hamed came in riding on a carpet or something like Aladdin once right?

Winky Wright, and another boxer (I forget the name) entered the ring with like a pullaway Business suit looking thing on over their ring gear.

That's a few that come to mind.

Hands down, the best had to be "Vampire" Johnson who used to be carried into the ring in a coffin. Fortunately, he never had to leave that way.

Why would you? Especially after the Wilder fiasco.

1 To intimidate the opponent? Unlikely in most cases, and could even backfire in others.

The kind of intimidation that Frank Bruno faced on his way to the ring against Mike Tyson in 1996 is likely to be more effective.

2 Boost self confidence? Possibly, but you can't wear it during the fight. Hand wraps are usually not allowed.

3 Entertainment for the fans? That's hit and miss. The musical fanfare (Rap) that some fighters use can sure be disturbing/ nauseating.

On the other hand The Eye of the Tiger and 7 Nation Army will always have their fans.
I still think of Eubank Sr whenever Simply the Best comes on. 😃

 I ways trying to describe just how f*cking rearranged Lebedev's features were to somebody the other day. I was like "this guy has the most smashed up face through fighting!" eventually I googled him, and the fight where his eye socket is half the size of his head, and they were like "urgh fornicate off with that!"

Yeah that dude is mangled.
