In looking over the record of 70's & 80's heavyweight Lynn Ball, I noticed that he's listed as boxing Lee Holloman on February 21, 1979 at the Silver Slipper in Las Vegas. Also on the card is Randy Mack vs. Leon Shaw.
Interestingly, both of these bouts are listed as happening again on February 21, 1980, in Las Vegas. The Ball-Holloman bout has a slightly different result: Ball stopping Holloman in 5 rather than 3. But the Mack-Shaw result is the same.
I'm assuming that one of these entries is an error. The 1979 entry has more complete information and more bouts on the card. The 1980 entry just shows the two bouts noted above, no scheduled distances, no venue, only the city.
What happened?
- Is the 1980 listing a complete error?
- Did the 1979 card happen, but in 1980 and thus was entered again?
- Were there actually rematches of these two bouts, in the same city, on the same date, one year apart?
