Saw Tom at a show in Leeds 2 / 3 years ago , don't think he's involved in the game now & you don't see him very often at shows around Leeds anymore , he looked fine when I saw him though .

You know when they do that boring joke about heaven being and hell being... British chefs, German policemen, Swiss lover, well Australian sports commentators should be in both heaven and hell because why should anyone miss out!

Collins landed bomb after bomb and Harding took it and at the end of the second round - Collins exhausted himself out and quit on his stool. The fight might be on You Tube but it was live on BBC Radio 2 I think... I remember listening to it live at 10 am.

I remember in 1987 he had a shot at Prince Charles Williams for the IBF title in Dublin but it never went ahead with a week to go, I remember trying to ring the BN offices from a payphone asking if this fight was going ahead and couldn't get through or they didn't pick up the phone, I wouldn't give a flying fornicate these days!

Didn’t Tom finish with a bad fight against Johnny Nelson? It occurs to be that he and Dennis Andries would have been better served staying in the light heavyweight division. Andries in particular could perhaps have finished with some higher profile fights. Andries v Michalczewski would have been a fight!

It might have been on the telly but I listened to it on the radio - same as Tyson vs Bruno I which was around that time

Nelson knocked Collins down for a first round stoppage , there was no way Tom was going to win there, payday end of career fight.

Collins later said he didn't come out for the next rou nd because he had taken a nasty shot to the throat and was having trouble breathing? Haven't ever seen the footage, so does it bear that out?

Aussie commentators are great

Tom really let down the fight-starved Aussie public in this one. His career was a strange mixture of power, heroism and capitulation

Simple truth of the matter is Collins wasn't world class and at that time Harding was very much world championship level. Jeff's workrate and durability could be formidable.

No way was Collins going to hold off Harding for more than a couple more rounds, he was shattered by the end of the 2nd. And to be fair they both put a lot into the first 2 rounds and Collins certainly had a go.

Collins was an erratic performer, but on his day he could hold his own with Europe's best.
