Bobby Czyz vs Mustafa Hamsho

Post by zuru »

I remember rooting for Czyz a lot.A talented hard punching articulate exciting fighter ,he was hard not to like.

Hamsho a good rugged fighter while very tough,I thought limited and a good win for Czyz.Man was I wrong. To this day,I have no idea what happened.

It wasn't as if Hamsho overwhelmed and surprised him,it was more like Czyz froze.Stagefright? I don't know.Does anyone remember, and if so what do you think happened? I have only watched it the original airing so my memory may be a bit dodgy.

I remember it well, hamsho ran over him. I think he was just too tough and good for czyz. Mustafa is underrated because of hagler. He steamrolled benitez. That one saddened me.

I did like Hamsho and maybe underrated him based on Hagler but still thought something happened other than just getting beat.I thought Czyz froze .Ill have to rewatch it.

I saw the Benitez fight and you're right it was sad.Benitez was a favorite.

Pretty sure that was the first time I saw him. Didn't they fall out of the ring? Some kind of crazy grappling. He beat Curtis Parker, who I was really high on. Minter too. Solid resume.

The way I remember it, Hamsho wrestled Scypion out of the ring. I seem to remember Wilford under a table or something and struggling to get back into the ring. He didn't beat the count. It was Scypion's first pro loss.

I didn't see Scypion fight but do remember reading it was a foulfest.

I remember seeing Frank Liles and can't remember the opponent but it was a walkout bout at the Palace of Auburn Hills in Mi. And Liles and the other guy wrestling ,fouling and one was laying on the floor while they were kicking.I can't even remember the main event but remember those 2 clowns.

I haven't seen it since it happened, but I recall Hamsho being too much for 20-year-old Czyz. Too tough and too experienced. I seem to recall Czyz pulling the same trick on then-undefeated prospect Andrew Maynard 8 years later.

I think the Hamsho - Czyz fight was part of a three-bout prime-time special, which also featured Qawi-Eddie Davis and Tony Ayala - Carlos Herrera.

The sad part after the fight, Czyz's father committed suicide before Czyz could return to the ring after the loss to Hamsho.

Look guys, it depends on the condition those guys are in. Dwight is at least equal in strength to Mustafa. And, of course, Ramos had enough power to make Hamsho back off of him.

If Parker and Scypion can hang with Mustafa, then Dwight can. And Ramos had good boxing ability. He would not be mauled like Czyz was.

And I would definitely say Hearns and Shuler and Caveman Lee have a shot as well. Hamsho was not invincible like some believe. :TU: .

I think Ramos had good skills but suspect chin.I could see Hamsho bulling him around.Davison had great power great chin but ver sometimey to me.I could see him getting bulled and turn into a Scypion type foulfest.
I see Hearns cutting him up worse than Hagler.Caveman Lee and Shuler struggling cause Hamsho was strong and awkward and his chin would negate(to me) Lee's power.
Shuler might outbox him at a distance.

Caveman Lee was nothing special.
He never once beat a legitimate top 20 contender.

Hamsho was one tough Syrian mofo. You may want to reconsider your opinion.
