12-1 in title fights
11 straight defenses 10 by KO
A devastating puncher..underated in my opinion shame he's mostly remembered getting destroyed by Hearns and Duran..no shame in that.
I guess 11 title defenses almost all by KO grow on trees
Playing devils advocate would you put Wilder in as well? High KO%, 10 title defences.
Did Wilder win the title when he was 18? I guess that's commonplace...I'll say it once I'll say it again, the modern game pales in comparison to what we had before..

No thank you.
And why not? His accomplishments were off the charts. HE had a magnificent career.
1. That's the lamest thread ever!
2. I don't know 'joltin' Joe brown. I know 'old bones' brown, but it's a common name.

Bring it up on your all time thread. Let's not hijack this one.
I am just responding to the ones that made a mockery of one of boxing's all time greats pound per pound. Warn them, not me.
Why take the bait. Stop making it so easy.

If we go with records vs HOF'ers and in title fights, several HW's don't look that deserving. Unfortunately they got in for being names people grew up with. Willard, Sharkey, Baer, Walcott, Johansson, Liston certainly weren't bums, but we have more deserving Old Timers who still haven't gotten in, as well plenty from the lightest weights from the 60's on.

Gatti. so overrated cos he was in exciting fights. mind you, its a hall of fame not skill i suppose. Mcguigan as well seems a stretch tho obv had an impact politically and culturally.

In Hameds defence (and I rarely defend him), he unified the division and held a title for 5 years. He also changed the entire pay structure for the little guys...they all owe him a debt of gratitude for that. He certainly achieved the fame part. Also, his resume isnt complete stiffs, just no elite name.

He only had 1 ppv here. Good money, not exactly the Leonard/hearns change.
