Probably some time while he was in Prison. The only reason his prime would've been as short as it is perceived to be is because of a lack of discipline.

Biologically speaking there's no way a guy should be stronger at 19 than he can be at 28 or 29, the reason why Tyson was is because he didn't put the work in anymore like he used to. His short prime has as much to do with his lack of discipline as anything.

This is what I believe too.

He started to believe his own hype and started thinking that the fight was won when the contract was signed.

Mike was always an accident waiting to happen, too wild and mixed in the wrong circles. He could've been greater but as others said he lacked that top level discipline and dedication, he eventually just fought for the money. He massively underestimated Douglas and ultimately that defeat took something away from him.

I think that when Tyson crashed his car into a tree, and was knocked out cold, that could have had a negative effect on him. I believe that it happened sometime after the Spinks fight.

Nonsense, nothing makes a fit man work out harder than woman problems. Getting paid to punch another man in the face during those times would be bliss.

The day Cus passed, was the end of his prime. He lost a big piece of his spirit. He was still amazing, but much of his heart was broken. Someone else probably already said this....but it's worth repeating. Tyson was unbeatable as long as he truly believed it. Once he started having doubts, he was merely great......and then very good........and then after some time.....pretty good......and so on.

AFTER coming back to the ring of the prison stint, the great Mike Tyson's career was a complete circus, really. His best and most competitive fight was with the great Evander Holyfield, and he lost that one, big time!

Agreed, that comeback was a stage managed farce.

The two guys who could have given him something to think about either virtually soiled themselves on the way to the ring and mentally checked out of the fight before the bell rang and the other one fell over to order from a glancing blow, thus giving Tyson a false sense of his mightiness and left him wholly unprepared for trench warfare against a formidable opponent like Holyfield.

Well, right after prison he didn't look completely declined, he did after Holyfield. He had not many fights in this period though. After Holyfield and the following DQ he was near finished. He struggled with Botha FFS.

All three judges had Botha ahead prior to the KO.

With hindsight his prep for fighting Holyfield was poor, four comeback fights lasting 8 rounds after 4+ years out the ring.

No, Botha was boxing circles around him. He was taunting him. I had money on frans, he got too over confident. He won every Rd.
