I was likely one who called him a bum. Totally wrong of course. I think the McDermott fight turned me off the hype.

I try not to carry on with heated debates if it's an era I don't have first hand knowledge in. I'll argue with you till I'm blue in the face though if you tell me Floyd Mayweather deserved the decision against Jose Luis Castillo in April 2002.

Yes he's not the prettiest to watch sometimes, but Olympic silver medal , world bronze, Commonwealth Gold, unbeaten professional and going in with the next big thing in Dunois.
But all he gets is a slagging.

I tend to get ruled by people saying stuff like "if naz hadn't have left brendan.. " or "if only cuz had lived......" How they excuse certain fighters poor living and discount their losses due to circumstances. Like every other fighter hasn't got shit going on

Indeed. Great fighters get the best out of themselves, they don't need somebody holding 'em by the hand to make sure they behave.

Regards life in general , no causes , nothing i'm passionate about , on't read newspapers , and don't watch the news , i get to know whats going on in the world if i read it on a forum , or someone tells me , because , i simply don't care , Yep could'nt give a hoot , my neigbor wants to cut his tree down , nothing to do with me , , he wants to kick his german shepard , he'll be sorry if it turns and savages him , even sorrier if he kicks mine . My missis says i'm the most unfeeling person in the world , , maybee i am , maybee i'm not , i just find it hard to feel passionate about anything that Goes on , because i simply DON'T CARE .

Regards BOXING , like everyone else , i enjoy boxing , but too be honest , i'm no where near has passionate about it as i used to be when the best fought the best , and promoters did'nt have such a stranglehold .

But there is one little pet hate ,, its Koalas , protected species , and promoters , protecting guys for no reason , , It really pisses me off when good hard working lads can't get a fair fight , cos promoters want to undermatch there proteges ,, That tho is a pet hate , not a cause , Hence i never got on the Conlan bandwagon , yet even though he sometimes talks like a prick , i,ve got a lot of respect for Eubank jnr , to come and fight at that level with virtually no experience , was / is a great effort , think about it , no ameteur experince straight up to giving Billy Joe a hard fight , in a short time ,, whereass Billy Joe , been nursed and been a koala for years .. To me Eubanks a man who pushed himself to his limits ,, Billy Joe 's a guy who will never know how good he could of been , cos he,s been a loala ,,, there ya go gents think i've just found a cause ,, I'm getting passionate has i type , so i'll get a banner made , NO MORE KOALAS

Agree , he did jump the que ,, but he was'nt protected , look at who he fought , for a guy with very limited experience , he backed himself and di jump in with guys who realisticly should of hammered him , yet he won . He certainly was'nt no koala , when you take his lack of experience into account

.. Another one i have great respect for was Mundine ,, 11-12 fights in , boxing for a world title , and WINNING all the way through to the final 2 rnds ,, people in Aust hated him and loved it when he was on his back , but they did'nt relize itr was'nt a big puncher ,that put him there , it was just sheer exhaustion , he had no strenght left to get up , he literally left it all in the ring ,,, What he never got credit for was , coming in a gym , starting to learn to box , and 12 fights later from who to go , being good enough to make it close with a unbeaten WORLD CHAMPION ,, .

I really don't think people a lot of the time relize what a great effort these acheivments are ,, You get guys like Conlan , heaps of ameteur fights , world class ameteur experience , turning pro , and 10 fights later still being nursed , whilst the likes of Mundine and Eubank , are no experience , learning on the job , but backing themselves for title fights within a dozen or so bouts ,

That my freind for me commands RESPECT ,, i ve now relized i'm passionayte in my dislike for KOALAS , thanks to this thread , i've found a cause in life

And i'm just saying his name helped get the fights ,, BUT he had the talent to deserve them , he took fights WEL WELL past his experience level and won them , which then eneabled him to get the fights he did deserve ,, and how do we know he deserved them ,, because people want to see him and Billy Joe again and he done well in them ,,

Wher ass Koalas with 150 ameteur fights , 12 years experince , turn pro get looked after and 10 fights later are still doing 6 rounders against guys they would off hammered when they were ameteurs

I tend to be the one saying “ah that’s not fair he’s working hard he’s a good fella”

I tend to feel sorry for them when a load of strangers on the internet have got a lot to say about them. It is daft the way it is sometimes.
