I saw Big Daddy v Giant Haystacks in Scarborough. I must have been very young because I hardly remember it until Big Daddy did the belly flop and the “easy, easy” chants started.
We were on holiday, so I must have been very young! It’s only an hours drive! We upgraded to Benidorm within a few years!

Les Kellett was a comic genius in the ring. Iv'e still got a few old Belle Vue programmes as the 'ol fella used
to take us on a sat nigh when we were nipperst. Leon Harris was in the drunken grandad Kellett mode whilst Bobby
Barnes had the old dears (75% of the audience) swooning.

What's the bit about Kellett mercman?
Apparently a real dirty scruff, lived like an animal in a right shite-tip, body covered in boils, etc. Sounded grim.
Thanks for that :OhYes: I can believe it.

Them two carved out a rivalry to match Ali v Frasier  They turned it into an 80 stone roadshow.

That's what prime time telly can do for ya.

Mick McManus
Tony StClare
Les Kellett
Bomber Pat Roach
Johnny Kwango,
Bobby Barnes

there were dozens more too,all great viewing on a Saturday afternoon :TU:

Remember Kwango's speciality... the headbutt. He'd put his hand over his opponents forehead
and then nut his own hand. A thing of beauty.

Adrian Street....a bleached blonde muscular John Inman. Tagged with Bobby
Barnes to be the circuits camped up arch baddies.

Jackie Pallo was the big TV name along with MMM. Never beaten on telly that i saw.

Nobody’s mentioned Lucky Gordon or Cyanide Sid Cooper.
Lucky Gordon was your solid journeyman type and Cyanide Sid was a gatekeeper.
There was also Skull Murphy who bullied the smaller guys but got squashed when up against the powerhouses of Daddy and Haystacks.

Regarding Clive Myers, I remember him having an arm wrestle after a match with Fit Finlay.

Went through a few old programmes and some crackin' names there.
Masambula ...Immaculate wrestler with a strong female following. Used to come into the ring witha leopard skin and head on.
Steve Logan..a real bad b astard. The archetypal baddie. Had to hold the record for disqualifications shirley?
Honeyboy Zimba..another popular black wrestler.
Johnny Kincaid,
The Royal Bros,....Bert royal and Vic Faulkner. Great tag team, Proper wrestlers who didn't need the gimmicks.
