Could Calzaghe face Hopkins in September?

Post by Boxingmad »

After Tarver's defeat last week, is there any chance that Hopkins could be persuaded to fight Calzaghe? Allegedly was going on about a big September date for Calzaghe and I wonder whether it's gonna be B-HOP.

Would does everyone else think?

I doubt it very much. Hopkins has delayed his retirement before, but he seems pretty certain this time. Giving the recognised number one lightheavy a thorough pasting is a good way to go out, why bother with a further fight which he could very well lose? I think Hopkins has finished now, he knows he's signed off in just about the best possible way.

The only possible way he'd change his mind was if a huge amount of money was on offer. And Calzaghe just cannot provide that.

I'm sure Hopkins feels he can beat Calzaghe. A fight between the two would be massive. They're the two longest reigning world champions of the last ten years & are coming off the best wins of their careers.

Hop will want too much money.

I think it's more likely that I'm being blown off by Naomi Campbell this evening.
