You know like the football masters, where retire, old players play shortened, but competitive version of the game? Why can’t we have that in boxing?
There are many post 35 fighters who can’t compete at the top as they once did, but still would like to tick over in a ‘masters’ style exhibition that could be used to fill cards and earn the old pros a paycheque on the side. 8x2s example.
What you think?

I'd watch it, they may no longer have the body for the pro game but they'd still have their skills.
Re: ‘Masters’ of Boxing
its a young mans game.
if they want to stay fit and have a non competitive moveabout in the gym, thats cool. but risking what health they have left is just stupid. Never worth the money

Just had a peek now that you’ve brought it to my attention. Exactly what I mean that is, expect the full face guards.
From a marketing perspective it’s a good draw for any card.
From a boxers perspective, it’s a pay cheque, and a ‘no risk to your record’ scrap. From that comes a bit of renewed publicity etc..
The thought has came about seeing old pros still in shape, who can enter a gap that’s not currently out there in the mainstream, and that I know there would be an interests in.

I don't think it would appeal for me and it could be quite dangerous - could you imagine Bernard Hopkins vs Sugar Ray Leonard - it would be dangerous. Or one I've always joked about with my friends Steve Robinson vs Naseem Hamed 2 circa 2020 - with Robinson being among the fittest 50+ people in the UK and Naz, well being Naz.
I thought that documetary of Joe Frazier from a few years ago where he was hitting the speed ball was quite sad really - living in the gym, its all he new and I think I just felt very sorry for him.
It is a very different sport to Football and the Football masters was primarily a laugh between old mates - you cannot laugh at boxing, exhibition or not.
