Was 'aggressive' Fury for one night only?
Do people think he'd revert to his slicker points-scoring style if he faced Joshua?
I certainly do.
I certainly do.

It's been so long since I've actually watched an AJ fight where he wasn't being beaten up or keeping a shorter opponent on the end of his jab that I've completely forgotten whether AJ has a decent inside game or not. He might not be able to rag doll him like Wilder but he could certainly knacker him out by tying him up and leaning on him.Nightmare Roy wrote: ↑04 May 2020, 12:13Maybe a mixture of the two, he wouldn’t be able to throw AJ around like he did Wilder.
It's Wilder again next, anyway.

I mean he was aggressive against Wallin too, but yeah I doubt he'd try to push around Joshua the way he did Wilder. I don't think he'd be able too. Joshua looks like he'd be the physically stronger of the two, even though Fury would still have size on him.

AJ does have a decent inside game despite all the talk of refs helping him in there
Uppercut: KTFO whyte, dropped Wlad, hurt Breazeale
Short left hook: dropped Ruiz with it off the uppercut and Takam
He has more to him there than Wilder for sure, though he isn't particularly comfortable in the ring and I can see him just being made nervous and mentally shakey rather than necessarily lacking the fire power or inside ability. I don't see a ragdolling though where even body shots are sending him halfway across the ring

Re: Was 'aggressive' Fury for one night only?
Fury used to be a lot more aggressive, his first style as a pro wasn't the negative stuff, he used to do lots of good uppercut and body work on the inside and go after guys, he is quite a well rounded fighter in how he can fight even if iit was easy to forgot prior to last fight
Look at the Chisora fights: 1st fight he beats him up for like 11 rounds inside at Chis's own game, next fight he jabs his head off from outside
Fury is a 'natural' in the ring, in that he's comfortable fighting however and can use different approaches, obviously he saw that a more aggrssive one would work better for Wilder and he adjusted the second time, just like Roach had wanted him to fight initially

Re: Was 'aggressive' Fury for one night only?
Josh has a more diverse and adjustable offense than the long reach missile thrower Wilder and is a heavier guy who prob wouldnt be as easy to lean on, so I can see that.
On the other hand, Fury just put a very hard punching but a bit stiff and raw latecomer into a shell by aggression , that may inspire him to do the same approach and I can see him trying it vs AJ , who has some of those same characteristics and has folded under an attack before.
People often underestimate just how effective it is to take the fight to these types of opponents---they just see the power and think that a dude has to be all elusive and running away, even if they're facing opponents who like to wait around looking for big long range shots

Re: Was 'aggressive' Fury for one night only?
When it comes to the infighting in terms of like wrestling and jostling for position, overcooks/underhooks and so on, I don’t doubt that Fury will be better than that at AJ as he is on other elements of ringcraft. From memory AJ didn’t really try and tie up when hurt against Ruiz? Partly maybe lack of experience and just not realising he needed to hold on, but partly too I’d imagine he simply hasn’t ever practised doing it. I mean who in sparring has put it on him to the extent he has looked to tie up and hold?
Anyway so as far as them fighting on the inside AJ would get some good shots off if he was allowed, but my guess is Fury would dictate when and where the inside fighting was to take place, fall in with a right hand like Hopkins would, initiate contact and proceed to take the initiative in the inside fighting, tying up, pushing head down and so on (Joshua is heavier and stronger than Wilder but Fury being taller gets to use his weight more as he’s got gravity on his side) and landing shots off his control while AJ continually struggles to adjust

Naturally Fury is defensive, to one extent he showed himself that being aggressive also works well for him at a higher level.
Nevertheless Fury is clever enough to do what he needs to do based on who he is fighting.

Depends on who he’s fighting.
Re: Was 'aggressive' Fury for one night only?
I think fury could throw AJ around after 3rounds Roy,AJ blows out of his ass after that. If wlad gave AJ kittens for 4 round imagine what Fury could give him? AJ couldn't get past Wlads jab till he threw caution to the wind in round 5. I think Fury stops AJ lateNightmare Roy wrote: ↑04 May 2020, 12:13Maybe a mixture of the two, he wouldn’t be able to throw AJ around like he did Wilder.

I dunno. AJ looked completely fvcked when Wlad jabbed and held him. Wlad stopped pressing him, allowing him to recover. Fury could press him constantly and AJ would tire early (we knew his stamina is his main weakness)Nightmare Roy wrote: ↑04 May 2020, 12:13Maybe a mixture of the two, he wouldn’t be able to throw AJ around like he did Wilder.
Re: Was 'aggressive' Fury for one night only?
probably the best way to put it, he can change as he needs and has the full package. I suspect he'd be less worried fighting Joshua on the outside, I also suspect Joshua having to come to Fury will mean a distance fight and peppering him. But Fury is capable right now of fighting in a few different ways.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑04 May 2020, 13:18

Although I doubt Fury can throw him around, we saw against Chisora that Fury can basically lean on and walk back a heavy strong opponent.
