First I've heard of Huni, has good ama background with world junior title and worlds seniors bronze as 20 year old, also qualified for the next Olympics already

Except that according to Boxrec he fought at 186 and the next month fought at 256... :-?

His opponent fought most fights around 170 and was obviously massively undersized, maybe they jobbed Rapha's weight somehow to get the fight passed? Cause presumably 286 would be wrong too considering what he weighed a month after

What do you think about Opetaia? regardless of division he would choose

In Aus/NZL I personally rank it potential-wise:

Opetaia > Huni > McKean > Browne

with Jo Parker currently clearly the best of the pack but he is far from being immortal. Good pressure fighter without fear of being hit (Opetaia, Huni) could crack his confidence and dominate the fight. More or less Ruiz's blueprint from their bout.
I've not seen him PH so I can't really comment. Don't forget Goodall. His pro career is off to a rocky start having drawn with an unknown but he was a damn fine amateur so I wouldn't write him off. Stupid really but I've not given up on Meehan, although I can't be sure he hasn't :maybe:

Bakhodir Jalolov.

Who? A late bloomer, this 25 year year old has a world of ability. Huge with a very strong lower body, athletic, with quick feet, and excellent power. He's got one of the best straight thefts in the business. If he puts it all together he could be a champion. Never stopped as am amateur.

He would be one of the most highly regarded of the new professionals P4P, but I don't know if you heard but Jalolov has announced his return to the amateur ranks. I do hope he returns to enhance the pro scene once the Olympics are done for another 4 years (maybe 3 years so as to get the cycle back to normal).

Kunkabayev stopped him. Ilia Kvasnikov dropped him, and Joe Joyce battered him all over the ring in a very one sided fight at the Olympics

Good way to rank is just by % chance of them ever winning a world title.

stealing someone elses list with age in bracket Then very quickly guessing (very inaccurate) this would be my chance of each of these guys winning a world title, (not WBA REG), it could be very wrong and it dosent rank them on whos a better boxer, or who would beat who, just who i think will go places. so to rank prospects id just go highest percentage first, lowest last.

.Daniel Dubois (22) 85%
• Evgenyi Romanov (34) 5%
• Vladyslav Sirenko (25) ?no idea %
• Efe Ajagba (25) 30%
• Arslanbek Makhmudov (30) 20%
• Filip Hrgović (27) 75%
• Ivan Dychko (29) 25%
• Tony Yoka (27) 65%
• Magomedrasul Medzhidov (33) 10%
I would say

Dubois 40%
Romanov 5%
Sirenko 50%
Ajagba 5%
Makhmudov 40%
Hrgovic 80%
Dychko 30%
Yoka 20%
Majidov 15%

I would put Dychko higher if he got better backing/a better promoter. And Majidov is low just cause of age.

Lots of people seem to like Sirenkos chances, witch leads me to Frazer Clarke Who stopped him in WBSS, He is a 6'6 British armature , guessing he was waiting for 2020 Olympics so could be a bit longer OR till we see him pro but has some good WBSS wins, witch are pretty much pro anyway.

in WBSS he Has stopped Sirenko and Lenier Pero, Both solid guys, that are prospects of sorts and Has 2 wins over Guido Vianello.

In Amatures He has fought high levle for a while (loosing most early carrer winning most later.) Lost to joe joyce about 90 times. But has wins over Yoka, Kuzman, Bakhodir Jalolov, And has a commonwealth games gold medal

Might be a Pre-Prospect, but could be one to watch if he turns pro seeing as he has wins over a lot of quite a few fancied prospects in the unpaid ranks.

Nice one Billy. I quite like your numbers :TU:

It makes me laugh Greg. Joe Joyce get's dog's abuse for his perceived lack of quality, and lack of speed especially hand-speed, but some of the most highly touted top amateurs recently turned pro have been battered by Joe. I remember him swatting Victor Vykhryst like a fly and some rate VV as one of those most likely to succeed. Joyce has made a lot of these guys now getting us excited look very ordinary.

I always thought of Frazer Clarke as being Joyce's understudy, but he is a top amateur in his own right. I never thought him likely to go pro though, off the top of my head I can't say how old he is, it seems he's been around forever.

Edit: He's 28 I just checked. He lost to Joseph Parker on his debut and to top American Cam F Awesome (AKA Lenroy Thompson) in his second fight. It's little wonder had one win in his first half a dozen bouts the quality of the opposition was frightening. You have to give him credit for sticking at it his mental toughness is beyond question.

I spent some time today watching Jai Opetaia. It's funny that i never have before, because I've been aware of him since before he turned pro. Mostly it was his most recent fight against Mark "Bam bam" Flanagan who retired on his stool after 8 rounds.

Opetaia is a tidy boxer with good mobility and a right jab that looks a lot longer than his recorded reach might suggest. It's difficult to get a handle on how good he is because I know a lot less about cruisers anyway, never mind those campaigning in Australasia. I'd never heard of Flanagan but BoxRec shows he went the distance with Dennis Lebedev in 2017 in Ekatarinburg but I believe I'm right in saying that Lebedev was well past his best by that point. He was also stopped by a French Armenian whose name I have already forgotten.

The Flanagan fight was quite competitive, and that seems to me to be a theme, in that all Jai's fights seem to be pretty competitive, at least initially, no matter the strength of the opponent. Although he looks to have some skills his opponents don't appear to have great difficulty in hitting him.

At one point Jai hurt and dropped Flanagan with a well timed straight left, right on the button, but he doesn't appear to hit hard enough to discourage his opponent from taking the fight to him. At 6' 2" of slim build Jai is suited to cruiserweight, and if he struggles to discourage fellow cruisers, I imagine he's going to find a Demsey McKean sized bloke in the ring with him, a real handful.

Finally I know being hit low can be painful, but he's wearing a protector, and I thought the fuss he made when a couple of Flanagan's shots strayed south did not suggest to me that he will cope well with adversity when he moves up the levels.

I'll keep an open mind but my initial impression is that he will find it hard going if he wants to compete among the dreadnoughts.

Lebedev was past prime but still gave very, very competitive fight to prime Gassiev. Basically lost by one round when he was knocked down (I got it 114-113). So Flanagan was just after that fight and was outclassed by Lebedev. In my opinion Opetaia beat Flanagan in clear fashion as well.

He is one of hottest prospects in CW and currently somewhere around top10.

I highly recommend you taking care of CW a bit more. It is stacked, international-driven and it produces a lot of hard battles and it is outside of big3 in terms of promoting. I guess nobody gives a fcuk about CW in USA :OhYes:

Australia-NZL is demanding market and could produce a lot of table-cleaners. I expect only two of Fa, McKean, Opetaia, Huni survive as contenders. Others would serve as side B fighters.

BTW, This French Armenian is Arsen Goulamirian - Cruiserweight version of haters' version of Anthony Joshua. Bodybuilder went boxing :)
Jacked-up as hell, probably juiced by The Great Russian Lab, fueled by French mobster's money and pretty raw as a boxer.

Cruiserweight is an interesting division but then so is lightweight, so is welterweight, so is ... pick your favourite.

While I'd prefer not to blow my own trumpet, i'd back my knowledge of the heavyweights over the majority on here and that's because I've made it my specialty. I don't profess to have anywhere near the same depth of knowledge over any other division and I'm quite happy with that. :TU:

Frank Maloney used to say '' I know my heavyweights this kid is gonna go far '' when he was signing HW bum after bum like Larry Olubamiwo and Scott Belshaw  And he was absolutely certain David Price was gonna be a superstar.

No basis of those rankings? I'll assume it's all just your opinion with no scale of rating as none is provided. Ominous "EO" in the web title.

Yeah, it's just my opinion at this point. The intent is to have people put their own ratings in there and it will aggregate them all and average them. But that functionality isn't there yet. I mostly made the database to track promoters and trainers. You can sort the database by stable.

If you hover over the Ceiling title it gives you the scale:

5: Pound For Pound (Top 10 in all of boxing)
4: Champion (Best fighter in the division, top 25 in all of boxing)
3: World (Top 5 in the division)
2: Contender (Top 25 in the division)
1: Fringe Contender-Gatekeeper (Top 100 in the division)
0: Club Fighter

Yeah, that ranking doesn't really mean anything at this point. I think Dubois is a cut above all those guys as I think his ceiling is a top 5 heavyweight. The rest of those guys I think will be Top 25 heavies at their peak, but not top 5. But they are just in alphabetical order.

Ceiling represents the highest level a fighter is projected to achieve from this point in his career until he retires. Action represents how entertaining the fighter is to watch.

https://boxeoguide.com/faq/boxeoguide

Ceiling
5: Pound For Pound (Top 10 in all of boxing)
4: Champion (Best fighter in the division, top 25 in all of boxing)
3: World (Top 5 in the division)
2: Contender (Top 25 in the division)
1: Fringe Contender-Gatekeeper (Top 100 in the division)
0: Club Fighter

Action
5: Very exciting fighter
4: Above average
3: Average (approximately 50% of fighters are in this category)
2: Below average
1: Not exciting

Action just means a guy is good television, or he isn't. I like to watch fights between evenly matched action fighters even if they are not top level. Hell, I like to watch evenly matched boxing matches of any kind.
