Fights back on in July?
After BJs confusing speech yesterday and saying gyms to be reopened at the minimum in July, do you think fights will still happen in July as boxers will still have to train. I think realistically speaking boxing will be back here in late august/September lads

I am not sure we are going to see any sports for a good few month yet. There seems a reluctance to have the hard conversations about how to make it happen practically.

There’s Hearn talking about July though so I don’t know to be honest pal. I just think there’s too many protocols to go through also watching the UFC that got me was how cut up and hurt they were... morally speaking It’s wrong right now as they’ll still need hospital beds available. Also there’s so many uncertainties like what if the main events test positive and the fights fall through etcBigdogsnose wrote: ↑11 May 2020, 11:02 I am not sure we are going to see any sports for a good few month yet. Can’t see any big name fighters willing to fight behind closed doors and I can’t see any chance of spectator sport for months, maybe remainder of year. They may try and put on the odd small venue, behind closed doors fights as a tester but would need to see how the numbers add up. One thing for sure, promoters ain’t gonna lose money putting fights out. It’s pure depressing now, far greater suffering but sports can be a real pick me up.DazBoxingFan wrote: ↑12 May 2020, 02:49There’s Hearn talking about July though so I don’t know to be honest pal. Its way too soon, but who knows really how the virus will continue to plumet in terms of death rates etc. You cannot expect football to start when teams are in isolation cos their players have it, likewise look at the UFC thing - one of the opponent was tested positive.
Who knows though 6 weeks from now we might be in single figure daily deaths and then we might be ready. In all honesty though I think we need to be in single figure daily deaths and then get sport up and running and properly up and running - perhaps still behind closed doors but not being as fearful of social distancing etc.
There cannot be guidelines about how construction workers need to adhere to social distancing and then expect footballers to kick ten bells into each other and probably spit on the floor etc.
Lets forget sport until social distancing is off the menu.
Spain peaked way earlier than us and its only last week that they've allowed kids to go outside I believe.

Yeah I think it’ll be august at the earliest to be honest. Gyms still won’t be open in July I can’t see fighters taking fights on roadwork alone and that’s dangerous as the boxers won’t be prepared to their fullest. Also there will be no small hall fights until there’s a vaccine in my opinion only the tv boys will get outstujones wrote: ↑12 May 2020, 07:48 Its way too soon, but who knows really how the virus will continue to plumet in terms of death rates etc. You cannot expect football to start when teams are in isolation cos their players have it, likewise look at the UFC thing - one of the opponent was tested positive.
