Hopkins was moaning that his hot chocolate got made with water and not steamed milk.

Later in the segment he started banging on about how he was from the hood.

The above two sentences don’t really go together do they?

I used to like. Bunce's show on BBC Radio London, it was a bit more low-key.

He's probably a really interesting bloke to talk boxing with if he's not in the Big Daddy persona.

What did he say about Jade Goody? And was before or after she passed away?

Take a look for yourself
The fella's never been my cup of tea but this is far and away the most embarrassing thing he's ever said. And he's Captain Cringe, disgusting what he said about Jade Goody.

Can't stand Bunce , lost what little respect I had for him with his "E's brown bread" when talking about the passing of Frazier

Well TBH Hopkins always has been. Hes not a nice man. Also His early life was mugging robbing and violence.
True.

But as long as I've been watching him, in and out of the ring, he's pulled weirdly pussio moves like this, moaning that his hot chocolate wasn't right, collapsing to the floor like he'd been shot after Calzaghe (a man he accused in the post fight press conference of "punching like my sister") slapped him borderline low; the blatant bitch out in the first Dawson fight (only postponing his inevitable loss in the rematch) and his obvious survival tactics against Kovalev once he realised that particular whiteboy could dig. He's always been an enigma.

Late last year a piece came out about him where he stated “When you’re in prison, you sometimes suffer from the prison of your mind. Part of my life will never change, because I’ll always be Y4145 from J Block.” https://hannibalboxing.com/from-j-block ... enshrined/

I remember commenting on it on here, because prior to the Calzaghe fight he was going on about being on D block, where the most dangerous inmates were housed; how he was going to take Joe to D-Bock. Either his memory is starting to fail him, or he spent a brief stint there and was transferred, or he was lying, but Jesus he didn't half bang on about it.

Personally, I don't think going to prison makes you hard. Prison is full of wankers and losers. Sure there's tough guys there, but if somebody who spent 10 years wanking into a sock or, in the case of our American cousins bumming weaker inmates, is an impressive person to somebody then that person probably won't get along with me. Also, Hopkins landed an 18 and did 5, IN AMERICA, so surely he must have been a model prisoner? (Any of our septic cousins who would like to educate me on this please, I'm all ears.)

Anyway, fantastic record and an ATG, so obviously a very very tough man. But I think he probably exaggerated his prison tough guy credentials. I mean, even Johnny Vaughan did four years in jail. He's not going around giving it the big-I-am, is he?

Conversely, google "Bernard Hopkins Soapy" for another viewpoint on Hopkins' prison conduct.

He had his first pro fight at 23, if he did 10 behind the door he went in at 13!
More realistically he did 5 which meant he behaved himself.

Another video. This one says cops might be getting involved. Well, they would wouldn't they if they fight in a field or someone threatens to shatter someone jaw and do serious damage.

Jesus I pressed play and got to "welcome back to..." saw the headline "The fans deserve..." and saw the video was just short of half an hour and immediately stopped watching.

I'm a big fan of Tyson Fury. I'm not a fan of his Dad nor this Theo character. So as a "fan" I "deserve"' some actual boxing when it's allowed to happen again. This is a fun thread to type in but the actual subject became a bore long ago.

No offence, Rocco!

I have just been watching the dvd Champs which is about Holyfield, Tyson and Hopkins journeys to the top.
Hopkins and others said that prison gave him the discipline to realise he didn't want to end up there again for longer or possibly dead if he continued his life as it was before.
He was lucky that there was a gym with boxing facilities to enable him to train, he became the best in the prison , then contests where they were driven by bus with armed guards to other prisons to box and eventually he won the prison championship nationally I think.
As for tough guys it is often harder to be a model prisoner if you think about it, you're surrounded by criminals 24/7 . That in my opinion takes a lot of determination to not fall into the bad ways.
