Batalla de Carabobo in Venezuela June 20 - 27 2006

Post by ricky_old »

Please post any info you may have on this tournament. I know Puerto Rico will be there, also Cuba and Rusia confirm participation along with Venezuela as the host. But, what other countries are expected to be there?

And, can anybody post daily results?

Thanks in advance, Ricky

Russians

Post by Venceremos »

All the delegation of Russia left Venezuela on Friday. Supposedly the Russians retired due to problems with his return passages, but it was rumored that it was so because they were not in agreement with the decisions of the judges.

Its a shame those rumors about the russian team, but I guess they tasted their own medicine in this tournament. Everybody knows how dificult it is to win fights overthere. I'm not trying to justify bad judges anywhere because I wasn't there and maybe they did their score correctly. And anyway, when this things happen our sport ends up with a black eye and that's a real shame. So let's hope those were good decisions.

Congratulations to Venezuela for winning 9 out of 11 and thank you guys for posting these results.

I was at this tournament and the judging favored the Venezuelan Boxers for sure. I don't understand why Brazil, Ecuador, Columbia did not bring an R/J to this competition. Only 3 neutral officials were there, all the rest were Venezuelan. I do not think that many countries will attend next year!!!! On a positive note, I would like to sat that there was some great boxing there. It is to bad that the bias officiating had to spoil that.

Do you think the russians were right to leave? Was it that scandalous? I think they can get a suspension for that. At least that's what was said a couple of years ago that a nation who leaves a tournament will get suspended.
