Nah I had Warrington winning quite comfortably, as did at least half of people. It was a non-event because of Galahads holding and negativity, no way did he do enough to rip it off the champ.

I see him as a hype job still because despite the Ingle gym and his fans hyping of him he still doesn't have a notable world level win or title. He lost to Warrington, had a razor close thin win in the final eliminator against Clary, got dropped by Jason Booth, was losing to Jazza Dickens before he got the KO. He's overrated. He's been a pro for 10 years, lived like a monk, and cherry picked bums for 98% of his opponents, whilst begging for fame from Frampton,Quigg, Warrington. And still hasn't done anything. I still personally see him as a Joey Selkirk type gym hyped fighter as of now.

And Yarde won ONE single round against an old past it Kovalev and was KO'd by a jab!

Melfah was a good amateur, England international yeah?
Very good amateur, reaching two ABA finals where he was outscored by Rod Douglas and stopped by Nigel Benn respectively. He could whack with the right and had something of an awkward style but let's just say that Herol Graham was even more awkward.

He did win a world title but...Frank Bruno! At one time I thought he could take Larry Holmes out! (I was 11 and he was 21-0, 21 kos)

Galahad hasn't done anything?
Undefeated British, Commonwealth and European champion.
Won a world title final eliminator against a highly decorated fighter in USA.
Controversial split decision lost for world title in champion's hometown.
Won another world title final eliminator.

Obviously I mean at world level!

As of now he's done about as much as Gavin Mcdonnell, Liam Walsh, Brian Rose, Kevin Satchell, Jamie Cox. Those sort of guys.

So if he was to retire right now for example. I would definitely say hes been a hype job. Because he's been a pro for 10 years and what hes done doesn't match the hype hes been given.

Galahad boxed the highest rated fighter in his division in his hometown and lost a controversial split decision. Satchell never boxed at world level. Walsh, Rose and Cox never boxed at European level. they were chosen as world title challengers and all got knocked out (as did McDonnell in his last attempt).
I don't recall any hype when Galahad turned pro and he hasn't received any from Sky or BT.

What happened with his last fight did he loose to a journey man or was he DQ'd can't remember? He looked decent when he first turned pro

He won his last fight but the one before that, he was DQ'ed for an intentional headbutt.

You say that like that makes him this tough guy or something, he was getting battered and headbutted the guy to get himself disqualified, got exposed and took the easy way out, was a really shameful and embarrassing moment

Was it against Garrido?

Good fighter Garrido. Very under-rated. Nice fella aswell when I’ve seen him. A bit crazy though. Last time I spoke to him he was dressed as a Lion.

Matthew Ellis
Roman Greenberg
Shafiq Khalid
Steve Barnes

Ellis and Greenberg could at least look special at times but should have stayed career amateurs.

Barnes and Khalid were absolutely awful (measured against the hype). Brendan Ingle was often guilty of wild hyperbole and also getting it completely wrong sometimes.
I remember watching Greenberg sparring some top pros when he first turned pro and schooled them. He was hungry in those days but injuries and other personal issues pretty much finished him off

Tony Doherty got quite a bit of backing and hype in the early 00’s. Seem to remember he got stopped by a journeyman then disappeared off the scene.

There used to be a few of his fights On YouTube. Now there only seems to be this.

Don’t think he’ll be at welterweight again 😳

Good one. Mark was horribly exposed against Joe Calzaghe in a British title encounter but Calzaghe, of course, was a little bit useful.

I'll have to dig out a programme from when I fought on a Matchroom show with Georgie Smith, the Delaney's, a few more too, the Hearn hype machine was in overdrive, comparing them to Duran and Hagler etc

Me personally, Gavin. Anthony small is one I caught on a stream with the announcers blowing him. Davies would be my first choice.

Most are over promoted when they can sell tickets. Promoters job. The thread is null and void when a prospect is
exposed. Tough for them. A life of knowing and adapting from celebrated limited world to the real one is a lesson.

I remember Tommy Shiels as a kid. We were in the same England Schoolboy international at the exclusive venue in Teignmouth Devon as 15 year olds. He chewed so much nonchalent gum while stretching winding up the trainer until he got threw out. Naughty schoolboy. Saw Roy Rowland jab jab jab move and pick pick him off over the 3 minute limit over 3 rounds. Never saw the punch through walls stuff.. Maybe overpromoted wink. Hope he doing ok.
