Joshua Buatsi V Callum Johnson or shall we shuffle the deck ?

Post by revpickles »

Life on lockdown got me watching boxing again and to be honest I feel like an age-old dinosaur listening to some of these podcasts and youtube shows.
The knowledge of some of these kids has far surpassed mine for the sport nowadays, hear I am still reading books from the days of Jack Dempsey whilst the likes of Ring IQ and The Boxing Asylum are giving me new lessons in boxing knowledge.
Some of these fan's are razor-sharp knocking out great fighters names like the alphabet while I'm still using BoxRec and the yellow pages.
My memories not that sharp and ill be the first to admit that, and I guess in another ten years my old Nokia phone will be in the imperial war museum but something grabbed my attention from across the pond and I like what the yanks are saying so hear me out.

Joshua Buatsi is a fine fighter and I hear talk of him looking towards a fight with Callum Johnson? Personally I think it's a good fight but I have to agree with our friends across the pond on another possible fight for Johnson right now ...

How does Callum Johnson V Joe Smith Jr sound for all the Pickles in the Jar!

Great fight :bag:

For those from across the pond, we salute you!

Your thoughts fellas?

Would love to see Buatsi v Johnson but can't see it happening despite it being an easy fight to make. Smith Jr v either would be good to see. Buatsi needs stepped up pronto.

Either Buatsi or Johnson vs Yarde would also be very good.

Dont think it's a good fight for Johnson, because he has currency at world level and could get a fight there.
Being rinsed by Buatsi stops all that.
I'd love to see Callum in with Joe Smth Jnr, that's a great fight and one he should win.

I think that would be pretty even money, Joe Smith is certainly crude but also a tough hard hitting guy who is more consistently tested despite being 4 or 5 years younger, and Calllum hasn't beat anyone Smith wouldn't . Would be a fun fight

Yarde thinks he is above British level. Apparently the WBO European is above the British......

I like Johnson vs Smith Jr, it would be a very good fight.

Johnson is the better boxer of the two, but Smith isn't an easy night's work for anyone.

Not sure we will see it soon, Buatsi vs Johnson is easier to make under the circumstances.

Just curious, do you still think Callum Johnson should beat Joe Smith? Joe's put together some nice results and has really come into his own, battering world rated guys, while Callum is now 35 and doing nothing

Buatsi was meant to be fighting this month but as yet the show is still not announced - 25th/26th Sept.

There’s talk of him now fighting early October against Marco Calic. Calic isn’t bad but it’s not a great fight to headline a show.
