Ingle Pringles Gym - ped users and mostly bums

Post by Billy Da Kid »

So many fighters have popped dirty from there. I wonder who will be next. Hope it won't be.. but I've a feeling it'll be Liam WIlliams with the way his power has increased since moving

Plus I feel the Dominic Ingle overrated as trainers.

It's always been a 99% bum/journeyman gym full of the likes of Kash Ali, Nadeem Saddique, Amer Khan, Tyan Booth, Richard Towers, Steve Barnes, Atif Shafiq, Kyle Yousaf, Leo D'Erlanger. I.e crap fighters who can't even get to domestic level. And loads and loads more countless names I've forgot.

Jake Ball, Nicola Adams, Jason Quigley, WIlly Hutchinson didn't/haven't improved at all from moving there at all.

their occasional success is gets overrated, when you consider the % of fighters Dominic Ingle has trained his success is very poor compared to the likes of Shane Mcguigan, Adam Booth, Joe Gallagher,

Bit harsh on saying Hutchison and Quigley haven't improved. They've only been with Dom 2 mins!

Bit of a weird thread tbh. Their success speaks for itself. What fighter did Shane mcguigan build from scratch? I'd genuinely love to know, I'm not as knowledgeable on his career.

Someone has had a drink and fell off his armchair.
The success speaks for itself.... year after year that gym rolls champions out and not only that changes people's life in other ways.

One, it's misconceived. You cannot compare a gym like the Ingles' - which takes boxers from day zero all the way up to the top, if they turn out to be good enough - with trainers like McGuigan, Booth and Gallagher, who generally take on established pros (or at least very accomplished amateurs) with a reasonable expectation of success. The outcomes are obviously going to be completely different.

Two, I hate boxers being called bums. It is such a hard thing to train hard enough to fight, let alone getting in there and doing it. I've done it precisely once and can't imagine going through that for years of an amateur or pro career!

Three, PEDs: alright, no comment. :D

One of those that the troll called a bum was a national champion in the amateurs, unbeaten as a pro, is now a full-time fireman whilst driving for the ambulance service and coaching at the Ingle gym.

As for the PEDS, one trainer has had twice as many UKAD bans just in his family and other trainers don't get mentioned because they're not as HENCH as Dom

Old Irish was a good man and out of respect for him and his fighters, I'd like to say a few words if I may.
One of his favourite books was by a little fella who ran the Roman empire- went by the name of Marcus Aurelius.
If you read the book you begin to realise that Marcus was a student of Democritus, another great man who unfortunately had all his work destroyed and all we have left are fragments.

"In the beginning there was nothing" someone once wrote-and he was right, just like most kids that walked in that Gym from broken homes or a life of violence they had nothing and Brendan gave them somewhere to go.
Most importantly he taught them self respect-and you obviously have none.

I can't think of a kid growing up in the '80s and 90's who had a bad word to say about Ingles Gym and if i could bring him back today to read this his words would be far more powerful than mine.

Dom is open about encouraging nutrition and supplements. They are grey areas about what you can take in and out of competition, and he has no problem in taking things to the limits.

As far as the gym being full of bums and fighters haven't improved is laughable

Certainly seems like quite the Pringles house, but tbf they have an incredible track record of building talents from the start, and that deserves a lot of respect. So many people get 'top trainer' billing just for taking on guys who are already top fighters who have boxed for years and years

I was thinking about this the other day. Specifically in regards to fury. Every trainer he gets is immediately deemed outstanding. First peter, then davidson, now sugarhill. They instantly become flavour of the month, when really he could be trained by anyone and still do the business.

Good post. I would have liked to have seen how Fury may have developed had he been with the Ingle gym for a consistent period of time. Can hardly moan, as Fury is excellent and has improved so much anyway, I am just curious about how his style and evasiveness might have developed if he'd been there for a few years. I love the classic Ingle gym style and Pele Reid aside they've not produced a heavyweight. Pele didn't fight in that style anyway. I wonder if it would benefit our other Fury - Hughie - to train there. I've always thought Hughie is caught between two styles, the evasive counter puncher that fought Parker, and the more aggressive version that did for Sexton (I appreciate the gap in levels of the opposition). I think Hughie would benefit from the Ingle style. He'll never be big enough to just walk down big heavyweights and as Pulev showed, at top level he can't really outbox them either. At that level it seems to be a case of surviving and trying to nick enough scrappy rounds to get a decision, but if you are going to be an evasive counter puncher you might as well do it right. Obviously with his dad training him he can't just switch trainers like cousin Tyson has.

The real work as a trainer is done at amateur level if you ask me especially with talented fighters. Or the pro trainers working with pros who weren’t amateur stars. Whose gonna teach maywether / fury / David haye etc much as a a pro? At that level it’s just about motivation, personalnrelatinshio and fitness... (plus PEDs if your names Dom 😁)
Of the fighters you mention one was found hooked up to an IV drip on the eve of his fight, another's family has had double the number of UKAD bans as Dom-trained fighters and the other looked like an Adonis.

Totally unrelated but I watched Hatton against Thaxton last week, Thaxton was looking pretty swell, pretty sure he had Dom in his corner that night

Ya, for sure. It happens a lot and creates a bandwagon effect, but I mean even my nan could get wins training a highly talented boxer who has boxed for years and already been high up the levels. Building a fighter from the start is a totally different thing

Watched it myself Tuesday morning after watching Ricky getting stretched by manny an totally out thought and boxed by Floyd .
Ricky against the jon seemed to be getting the basics all nailed on. End of his career he constantly had guard down coming in , relying on force to overpower opponents. Got away with it against top guys on way down . Castillo , Phillips , Was lucky v collazo in my opinion.
Ricky was great for British boxing, 2 weight champ .... he was very very well matched until the end

I'm sure the Ingle fighters would love being called bums by you. Head to the gym yourself and tell them.....once you have finished your paper round. You may need more than a keyboard and a pseudonym to hide behind..... :TU:
