It seems absolutely scandalous looking back that Tapia was banned for 3.5 years for falling a drug test for cocaine in the early 1990s when you look at the ‘punishment’ given today for PED use.
Did they make an example of Tapia because his face didn’t fit? And at what point did the boxing authorities start to get so lenient in terms of the length of the bans?
Such a ban for Johnny seems way OTT given it was a recreational drug fail. Gutted we were robbed of his prime years too as he was such a special talent.
