I am a casual fan.... and the one thing that confuses me is the polar opposite views on Khabib. Some say he’s possibly one of the Greatest... others say he’s a bum who wins through boring tactics. And call him a coward. People call him arrogant though he always seems quite level headed for an MMA fighter, not boastful. What’s the truth?or it is just typical of MMA internet flame wars between opposing fans? It’s all rather odd to me. It’s like UFC is wrestlemania without an actual fighting script? Like Conor saying ‘it’s just business’ during a fight... TBH I thought it was pretty cool Khabib jumping over the cage and going for Conor’s entourage
Khabib is very clearly one of the best fighters of all time. And I don't really understand the "boring" accusations. Maybe early in his UFC career he had a few uneventful decision wins, but generally he brutalizes his opponents when he gets them to the ground, and makes a serious attempt to submit them after they've been softened up.
I guess the only knock on him (which isn't really much of a knock on him personally) is that his career has been a bit disappointing compared to greats like GSP or Anderson Silva. He's had huge stretches of inactivity and his resume has suffered for it.

He's definitely one of the best and I've never found him boring. His personality is dung, the religious gangster of principal. Whiny little pudendum, can't wait to see Justin smash him.

He turned into a whiny little bitch after the Nevada Athletic Commission punished him and his team for almost causing a riot and bringing disrepute to the UFC. If you are going to act like a gangster then take your punishment like a man. I was actually rooting for him to beat Conor but soured on him after his whiny bitch fit.
Like Onetime I too can't wait to see Gaethje light him up.
Well he's Muslim plus Russian, which completely inhibits his ability to understand trash talk. But I will say the UFC was absolutely disgusting in pampering Conor, like Jones and Rousey, so I thoroughly enjoyed Khabib taking it to their lover boy and jumping the cage like a madman.
Funny thing is Gaethje is seen as a pure slugger, but he used to be a wrestler who took people down. It might benefit him to mix it up a bit more since he tends to take serious damage even when he wins.
McGregor is just a huge asshole and should probably have done jailtime by now. Threw a metal barrier through a bus window, decked an old man in a pub for no reason. He has problems. Jones is the same.

Oh no doubt. McGregor is a POS but if you are going to go all gangster then don't cry like a whiny little bitch when you get punished for your actions.
If Khabib had just said, "the UFC did nothing so I took it into my own hands. Whatever punishment comes my way I will accept it" then I would have had huge admiration for him but no he cried..."the UFC did nothing to punish McGregor....they are just punishing me." I'm paraphrasing but that's the whiny tone he took.
He was right the UFC didn't punish McGregor but that's not his call to make. All he can do is beat McGregor which he did. You leave the decisions to those in positions of power and just do your job.
Amanda Nunes is the greatest of all time. I just watched the preview to UFC 250. She says, I feel like I'm almost there.
But how long has women's MMA existed as a mainstream sport? That is why someone like Conor can claim to be the GOAT is because it's a young sport. Conor cannot make that claim though because he has Khabib problems.

The grief khabib got in the lead up, I’m not surprised he went nuts. I mean he’s not really an English speaker and conor has a vicious tongue. Didn’t he get a few digs from Conor’s mate though? As I remember one of Khabib’s team also gave Conor a dig afterwards. It was mad The UFC do pamper their stars and pay eff all to the others. It’s like a dictatorship as far as I can see. I was a Connor fan as he was exciting and good value but I’ve heard some dodgy stuff from my Irish mates. But I have to say I don’t enjoy the wrestling / Jew jitsu part of it so I like this gaetje guy.
Yeah, some back n forth from both teams, can't remember the exact chronology. The UFC was so appalled that they forever ran it as the marketing campaign.

Conor is not even one of the top 20 MMA ATGs. His entire resume is 2 wins.
I wouldn't say I "respect" him. He's great at self-promotion and has made a ton of money, sure. But I'd say he's done quite a bit of damage to the sport with his antics.
Yeah but he deserves respect for the attention and money he brought
He's easily top 10 at, has an argument for top 5. Saying he isn't top 20 is outlandish.
He's 2-1 in title fights and in his prime went 1-1 against a B-level fighter where his win was much less definitive than his loss.
If we're discussing who the best fighters were skill-wise in their primes, then sure he has an argument as that's extremely subjective. If we're discussing HOF/ATG credentials his resume is unbelievably weak. He's kind of like an MMA equivalent of Jermain Taylor or Kelly Pavlik. Maybe Naseem Hamed at best.

I disagree. He made UFC and MMA huge. Also It’s bit hard to damage a sport that is legalised GBH lol not to mention PED central.
Of course he's generated a ton of money but I think the sport was in a much healthier place around 2008-2010 when the average PPV was doing big sales just by virtue of excellent matchups and not due to a single big star. McGregor managed to screw up both weight classes he was the champ of and he has made the UFC shift towards the boxing model where a PPV is sold based on the star power of a single fighter with an undercard of forgettable trash.
I have no idea what GBH is, but I would argue MMA is no more rife with PEDs than any other sport.

You are a casual, UFC is about 100 times stricter on peds than boxing. They haven't always been, but boxing is your ped central.
Some can't give Connor credit no matter what he does. The mma Floyd.

Lol, I don't think Taylor ever beat Hopkins, he certainly didn't destroy him and then move up to light heavy and destroy Johnson. Terrible analogy
He definitely won the 1st fight with Hopkins. 2nd one was much more competitive.
Hopkins just started too late in the 1st one. He did very much dominate the Championship rounds. Problem is he didn't start winning any until like the 8th.

First fight was close, second was clear Hopkins win. Whatever you think, the analogy falls well short.

I thought Taylor won both bouts, but the 2nd fight was debatable for sure.
1st fight was a Taylor win all the way. Hopkins might've stopped him had it been a 15 rounder, but it wasn't.
