Night of "Juniors" on ShoBox
Sons of Legendary Fighters on ShoBox Special Edition July 1.
Having a relative with a reputation for greatness in boxing can be a blessing or a curse says Chazz Witherspoon (12-0, 7 KOs), nephew of former heavyweight champion Tim, at a conference held to discuss the upcoming special edition of “ShoBox: The New Generation” airing LIVE on Saturday, July 1, 2006, from the Little River Casino Resort in Manistee, Michigan. The broadcast will feature Witherspoon against Mike Alexander (11-0, 8 KOs) in a 10-round battle of unbeaten heavyweights; James McGirt Jr. (11-0, 1 NC, 7 KOs), son of former world champion and well-respected trainer Buddy, against Stephan Pryor (10-1, 7 KOs), son of all-time great junior welterweight champion Aaron, in an eight-round middleweight showdown; Ronald Hearns (8-0, 6 KOs), son of former seven-time world champion Thomas “Hitman” Hearns, against Hector Hernandez (8-1-2, 3 KOs) in another eight-round middleweight bout, and unbeaten Jorge Paez Jr. (9-0, 7 KOs), son of loveable former featherweight champion Jorge Sr., against Michigan’s Armand Horn (13-1, 11 KOs) in a six-round junior welterweight bout. “When I say curse, it’s a strong word but you’re held to a different level of scrutiny when you’re related to someone who is great,” explains Witherspoon. “You’re only as good as your last fight., so if you come in looking bad and you’re related to somebody great, they’ll criticize you a lot more. It’s a mental edge also, where you put pressure on yourself to perform. The media attention helps, but if you’re still in the learning process as I am, you’re under a microscope while you’re still learning. Someone without a famous last name can fly under the radar while they become great.” (More to Come)

Any other boxers son's they could add to this card.

Scary thing is though - the more 3 of their father/uncle's are still fighting (think Jorge Snr hasn't offically called it a day).
