Now comes the endgame where he gets the last word in because his nonsensical bibles have bludgeoned everyone into apathy, and he thinks he’s won

Anyone think EO has actually watched boxing or is just a boxrec records warrior?

The thing I find weird (not just from this thread but that silly age one) is how many people, despite the figures being there, seem to believe Liston was somewhere around 5'10 and weighed about 14st. I'd also wonder do some of the same people think every current heavyweight is 6'5+? Tyson in his prime would walk through most of today's heavyweights at maybe 5'10 - depending on what you believe on his height. According to BR the average height of the current top 10 is under 6'4. Take out the top 3 and it drops to 6'2.5 hardly towering over Liston.

Liston was a good boxer who was a decent height and naturally big and powerful. Looking outside of the top 3, Fury, Joshua and Wilder, I don't see anything that special in the current top 10 (Usyk at cruiser but we know nothing of what he'd do at top level heavy). Of those 3, if Liston connected well with either Joshua or Wilder I'd be expecting a loud thud on the canvas. Fury would be a nightmare for him as he would be for most heavyweights at any time, being that awkward with that size and reach. The fact that a fight with Joshua or Wilder could well come down to could he land before they did is irrelevant in terms of him competing since that counts for fights between those guys and most current top 10 HWs.

According to BoxRec’s top-ten ratings, today's average heavyweight is 6’ 4” and weighs 244lbs.

ESPN & The RING’s ratings are slightly different, because they’re using a slightly different set of fighters, but their average heavyweight is 6’ 4 ½ ”, weighing 245lbs.

The 1963 iteration of Sonny Liston had gone the distance in eleven of his 36 bouts, losing one of them, with the average weight of his foes that avoided the KO being only 194lbs, with their average height listed as 6’0”.

Liston’s average weight during the first 36 bouts of his career was only 207lbs and he wasn’t particularly well-muscled or defined either, but I appreciate that by 1963 Sonny weighed roughly 215lbs.

The 1963 prime version of Sonny Liston was “bigger” than nearly all the opponents he’d faced for the first 36 bouts of his career, since the average weight of his opposition for all of those fights was only 196lbs.

The 1963 version of Sonny Liston had never KO’d any world-rated heavyweight opponent that weighed 216lbs or more.

The 1963 version of Sonny Liston had never defeated any world-rated heavyweight opponent that outweighed him by 5lbs or more.

Sonny Liston captured the world heavyweight title from a man that was the equivalent size of a rehydrated 175lb-er, because the six feet tall Floyd Patterson only weighed 189lbs, which is pretty much the same as a typical light heavyweight (i.e. Isaac Chilemba, Eleider Alvarez, Sergey Kovalev, Sergey Kovalev, Tony Bellew, Chad Dawson, Glen Johnson etc.).

BoxRec quotes Sonny Liston’s height as being 6’ 1”, but other sources have him slightly shorter at 6’0½ “.

It’s safe to say that the 1963 iteration of Sonny Liston and also the opposition he’d faced for the first 36 bouts of his career would have made today’s 200lbs cruiserweight limit with consummate ease. Many would have even made the 175lbs weight limit.

If we assume the heavyweight fighters listed by The RING & ESPN, the 1963 iteration of Sonny Liston would have to overcome a 30lbs to 40lbs in weight and 3” to 4” height size handicap against the majority of today’s top-ten big men.

To put the size disparity (height & weight difference) into perspective, it’s ROUGHLY the equivalent of a rehydrated middleweight like the 173½ lbs 5’10½ ” Gennadiy Golovkin facing today’s 6’3” 215lbs heavyweight iteration of Oleksandr Usyk.

Do you personally believe the 1963 version of Liston would defeat Tyson Fury, with the Brit being a few years younger than Sonny was back then, coupled with being eight inches taller and roughly sixty pounds heavier?

This guy has never been in a real fight and he's likely only watched boxing from about 2015. He will shortly be seen declaring that Tyson Fury and Nikolay Valuev were the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time. I can hardly wait to see what he makes of genetically altered eight foot tall giants in the not too distant future.

It's one thing to say Fury would have a size advantage over Liston. It's quite another to believe Sam Peter or Pulev are better because they weigh more. He actually predicted Ruiz over Liston on size! Guess you get credit for being fat now.

You guys seem pretty salty, because someone believes that there's a reason the sport of boxing has weight divisions and that size matters. :TU:

You can't even attack what I wrote, so instead you make up all sorts of nonsense. And that's pretty funny! :yay:

When you referred to him as EO I had no idea who you were talking about. His posts are far too long-winded for my attention span. :OhYes:

When I do read him, as I wrote, he comes across as an overly zealous parent who shouldn't have had kids.

I hope he never stops. He continues to prove he's a complete ignoramus. We should all stop engaging in any serious back and forth with him, but toying with him should not be abolished. :TU:
