Re: Senior on Naz, Ricky, & Old School
Eubank was a very eccentric dresser, was always doing public appearances etc. Below is a quick quote from his Wiki.
Known for his unique sense of style, Eubank has won the Britain's Best Dressed Man many times.[17] In 2010, Eubank, once a regular customer, started designing tailored suits for Cad and the Dandy, a Savile Row bespoke tailoring company.[18]

Wasn't it after Eubank had been to the Ingle gym to spar Graham that Eubank started jumping the ropes? My Name Is Earl wrote: ↑03 Jun 2020, 16:28Oh i know that. He copied a lot of his routine which led to a few exchanges between them didn't it?

Eubank was the same as Ron Essett - came to spar with Herol Graham and fell in love with the young Naz.
In Eubank's last day sparring he wanted to carry on so Johnny Nelson got in the ring with him. Eubank couldn't land one punch, got out after a round and never came back.
Brendan Ingle, Herol Graham and Johnny Nelson were with Naz every day. Eubank was there a fortnight - don't kid yourself.

So posing and strutting etc like Eubank was just mocking him or something was it? Get real. He wanted to be him. We know the impact Eubank KO-ing Graham in the first round had on him.Pugilist-specialist wrote: ↑04 Jun 2020, 05:47Eubank was the same as Ron Essett - came to spar with Herol Graham and fell in love with the young Naz.

Eubank helped Johnny a lot with advise, got him with Matchroom etc.
They wouldn't spar toe to toe, they'd spar to not be hit and spoil so Eubank just stayed there to be paid, because he wasn't really taking any shots either.

Impossible, Eubank jumped the ropes at the 1985 NYC Golden Gloves on ABC TV in US, on video. Naz would've been 10 at the time and Eubank wasn't living in the UK.Switch hitter wrote: ↑04 Jun 2020, 04:31Wasn't it after Eubank had been to the Ingle gym to spar Graham that Eubank started jumping the ropes? My Name Is Earl wrote: ↑03 Jun 2020, 16:28

So Eubank didn't lay Graham out straight away, with Naz open-mouthed?Switch hitter wrote: ↑04 Jun 2020, 08:56I think you had to be there to understand what your saying isGreg Nicholas wrote: ↑04 Jun 2020, 08:18

It's called tap sparring compared to what Eubank was used to, and wrestling/grappling and running. I've seen both spar up close, Eubank would go to war and Graham would fiddle, its easy to see what would've occurred back then after Eubank, an eight round undercard fighter, sparred a Graham at his peak in his gym

Hardly surprising, you can't do anything with Graham when he's moving and grappling and turning like that and switching. Even McCallum at his peak landed less than 10 shots until the 7th, didn't land once until the 3rd. Jackson landed once at the end of the 4th when Bomber fucked up attacking him. And Eastwood had him attack Kalambay

There's plenty of videos of Naz posing and strutting years before he'd even heard of Eubank.Greg Nicholas wrote: ↑04 Jun 2020, 08:18 So posing and strutting etc like Eubank was just mocking him or something was it? You've previously been 2 years out in your guestimate of the Graham-Eubank spar and now you're saying Eubank didn't take any shots
The only part Eubank had in the Naz story is an amusing anecdote of Naz whacking him at the airport and Eubank left blubbering with a bloody lip.

Bullshit is there. He did the exact poses of Eubank at times without even meaning to, such was Hamed's begrudged admiration. Eubank was strutting and posing like that in his amateur fights in NYC. It doesn't add up, how would he know who Hamed was?Pugilist-specialist wrote: ↑04 Jun 2020, 11:35There's plenty of videos of Naz posing and strutting years before he'd even heard of Eubank.Greg Nicholas wrote: ↑04 Jun 2020, 08:18 So posing and strutting etc like Eubank was just mocking him or something was it? I've got one of his American fights somewhere, think it's the Canty one, it's not got the 1st round on it and was really close, bit odd seeing Eubank without all the posing

Re: Senior on Naz, Ricky, & Old School
According to Johnny Bos I think it was, it was well known that Eubank had out-jabbed the great Mark Breland in the 1st round of their welterweight fight in the quarter-final of the 84 NY GG's when Eubank was 17. When Breland realised Eubank couldn't punch (yet) he put it on him in the 2nd and stopped him with Eubank apparently protesting profusely at the ref after.
Breland was the best amateur in history and Eubank had 12 months training.

He told the story to Wilder in the dressing room before the Ortiz II fight they say, saying don't underestimate adrenalin if Ortiz fears him like Eubank feared Breland (who was knocking everyone out)

Breland was not quite the best amateur in history, still, interesting story on him stopping EubankGreg Nicholas wrote: ↑04 Jun 2020, 16:40 According to Johnny Bos I think it was, it was well known that Eubank had out-jabbed the great Mark Breland in the 1st round of their welterweight fight in the quarter-final of the 84 NY GG's when Eubank was 17. Point being Eubank was 17 and won the 1st round. Nobody took a round off Breland.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑04 Jun 2020, 17:12Breland was not quite the best amateur in history, still, cool story on him stopping EubankGreg Nicholas wrote: ↑04 Jun 2020, 16:40 According to Johnny Bos I think it was, it was well known that Eubank had out-jabbed the great Mark Breland in the 1st round of their welterweight fight in the quarter-final of the 84 NY GG's when Eubank was 17. Wasn't he 110-1 with 90 KO's, beat every Russian and Cuban?
