But overall on the whole island the majority would certainly be in favour of it :bag:
That's not how it works ffs.

The majority of China thinks that Hong Kong and Taiwan should be absorbed into the country as a whole. So its OK?
I'm sure your aware then for the first time since the end of gerrymandering and since the start of power sharing in the 6 counties of N ireland that the nationalists have a majority in stormont. That's is the NI assembly. And in the Ireland latest election Sinn Fein the republican party won the most seats. Also fianna fail, fianna Gael and labour that's all 4 major southern parties all have always striven for Irish unity in different degrees. Now I know you love to pick at anything I say on this board regarding either Irish unity or socialism you miserable little fuk. Like when I said at the end of a post once "tiocfaidh ar la". Your response even tho it (the post) wasn't aimed at you as you weren't involved in the conversation was that I was spouting sectarian shit you fukin moron. So what is sectarian shit about that phrase you cap doffing imperialist renter. So to sum it up situation in China hk very different to Ireland where in the north of Ireland we now in parliament have a nationalist majority you miserable snidey little bumboy :bag:

In the first place? Slavery was in Africa and elsewhere in the world long before the Europeans. In some African countries it only became illegal this century.

Not sure that is exactly correct, I thought it was that there was no Unionist majority as opposed to a Nationalist majority. There are those that are 'non alligned' including Alliance, Greens and People Before Profit.

sure, slavery itself existed, but not on the industrial scale the was introduced by the Europeans. any African chief rounding up tens of thousands of slaves, just on the offchance, would be nuts. nobody else in Africa could afford to pay for them.

you think that various African chiefs lined up a few hundred thousand slaves just on the offchance a few passing European merchants ships might eventually take them off their hands? slaves are expensive things, and they are perishable. you have to feed them or they die. that's expensive. nobody does that without knowing they have a buyer. this didn't all happen by chance and accident.

from the wiki:

"Various forms of slavery were practiced in diverse ways in different communities of West Africa prior to European trade.[20] Even though slavery did exist, it was not nearly as prevalent within most West African societies that were not Islamic before the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade.[56][57] The prerequisites for slave societies to exist weren't present in West Africa prior to the Atlantic slave trade considering the small market sizes and the lack of a division of labor.[56] Most West African societies were formed in Kinship units which would make slavery a rather marginal part of the production process within them"

quick version, slaves in Africa existed in their pockets of handfuls of hundreds, here and there, before the Transatlantic Trade in them began. after, they existed in their hundreds of thousands. we are not talking about two phenemena that are comparable in scale, here, much as you'd (seemingly) like them to be equivocal. they were shipped thousands at a time. this dwarfs the 'local slave trade', such as it was.

Mate, I think Hamilton's an absolute helmet, but when he carries hurt about how his ancestors were treated, what does it say that he still has to take his money and orders from rich white men to do the sport he loves?

Who had it best? That's the more important question, and the answer isn't squabbling with Dave down the road about who's had it easier, it's working with Dave against the rich white bastards who've exploited you both.

I guess money's a mindwipe for some people. If I took millions from a despot I'd enjoy my nice new house, but I wouldn't be able to shake the feeling I should've rejected it on moral grounds.

"and by 1850 the number of African slaves within Africa exceeded those in the Americas."

"Although outlawed in all countries today, slavery is practiced in secret in many parts of the world.[106] There are an estimated 30 million victims of slavery worldwide.[107] In Mauritania alone, up to 600,000 men, women and children, or 20% of the population, are enslaved, many of them used as bonded labour.[108][109] Slavery in Mauritania was finally criminalized in August 2007.[110] During the Second Sudanese Civil War people were taken into slavery; estimates of abductions range from 14,000 to 200,000.[111] In Niger, where the practice of slavery was outlawed in 2003, a study found that almost 8% of the population are still slaves.[112][113]"

A trend began after the transatlantic slave trade introduced the idea of large scale slave trading, which was basically absent in African society (on that scale) before that point, yes. I mean, it’s almost as though the European trade gave them the idea and infrastructure where none existed previously. Well, not ‘almost’, that’s what happened

I don't feel any white guilt, it's one thing to acknowledge the past injustices, but I had 0 involvment in them and didnt support them

That type of thinking is messed up and overly broad. Ascribing something like that to all people of one colour is a similar process to racism itself
