Every 5-6 Months A Rogue (Update) Banner Ad Gets Through

Guys,

I love coming here for the great boxing information, but ever since the beginning of time it seams that about every five months or so, maybe up to six months, a banner ad containing malware comes through when either going to the site bookmarked or when going to the site when information is found in a search engine. There is some malicious code that is creeping in on the site during this time interval.

I don't have this issue with any other sites, but there is something that is getting through from time to time. And this is on every single computer that I have owned when visiting BoxRec.com for the past 5-8 years.

A security upgrade may be needed. Have admin's checked PHPBB for an update? Most of the time, you can get out of the banner ad by doing a CTRL+ALT=DEL, but sometimes not. I would hate to have to leave such a great site by unbookmarking it. But this has been going on for years, and since my PC is clean, it is something that should not be happening at all.

But there are no adverts on the forum ?

It could be anywhere on the Box Rec Site.

It could be an advertiser running bad adverts, it happens from time to time there is nothing that can be done about it. But Google usually spots it quite quickly and disables their account.

On the main page of Boxrec. Firefox lists some tracking content that it is blocking. The last site arouses suspicion. The asterisk is my own. The blocked content is the following:

Those are pretty harmless, they just ensure you don't keep getting the same advert time after time.
