Re: Better era of Heavyweight Boxing
you never voted gil ?
Re: Better era of Heavyweight Boxing
We're the only 2 votes for now. Check back in a day when the poll is overwhelmingly lopsided in favor of the 90's.
Re: Better era of Heavyweight Boxing
For the moment the 90s are better, but the current era is also good, while it's not completed yet, some important fights are to be made.
Re: Better era of Heavyweight Boxing
Biggest fight of the era for sure.
Not sure whether it'd be the most exciting or not, but I'm definitely stoked for it.
I kinda hope whatever the result that AJ vs Wilder still happens at some point even if its' a non title fight. I just always wanted to see those two go at it.

Re: Better era of Heavyweight Boxing
Pretty hard to beat an era with Holy, Lewis, Vander, and Tyson. It even had some Klit if you're into that type of thing
Re: Better era of Heavyweight Boxing
So it's AJ, Fury, Wilder,Whyte and Ruiz v Lewis, Bowe, Holyfield and the tail end of Tyson
Re: Better era of Heavyweight Boxing
Bowe, Old Man Foreman, David Tua, Ray Mercer.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑12 Jun 2020, 16:34 Pretty hard to beat an era with Holy, Lewis, Vander, and Tyson. It even had some Klit if you're into that type of thing![]()
The 90's was stacked.
Even Larry Holmes had some moments in the 90's.
Re: Better era of Heavyweight Boxing

Re: Better era of Heavyweight Boxing
Lol I put Vander and Holy, I meant Vander and Bowe/Holy and Bowe
Re: Better era of Heavyweight Boxing
The tail end of Tyson
As if Tyson was ancient.
He was younger than Lewis AND Holyfield.
He didn't age out of being effective in the 90's. He just quit putting the work in to the same extent that he once had, plus he was fighting guys who weren't scared to death of him. At least when he fought Holyfield.

Re: Better era of Heavyweight Boxing
This era is gonna be something. No f*cking Don King to make it all crash and burn for the moment.
Re: Better era of Heavyweight Boxing
Also on the second tier now there is Breazdale, Martin, Pulev, Usyk, Povetkin and Parker v Tua, McCall, Bruno, Golota, Morrison, Moorer, I suppose Foreman too

Re: Better era of Heavyweight Boxing
90's for me, but I'd like to see Fury against them
Re: Better era of Heavyweight Boxing
This era is competitive but the fighters are not nearly as great as the nineties. Can't imagine the voting goes the other way.

Re: Better era of Heavyweight Boxing
The 1990’s covers an entire decade.
And if you’re referring to now, then I assume you are asking us to comment on either the situation today or since the start of the year, which includes a global pandemic that prevented the sport from taking place.
Therefore, if my interpretation of your question is correct, then you shouldn’t have even bothered to waste people’s time by creating this thread in the first place.
You’re better than this, so you must try harder.

I would say the now can include the years setting the stage for the scene we have now as well as the present day.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑12 Jun 2020, 18:20The 1990’s covers an entire decade.

I'd say the modern era as we know it started in about 2015 I suppose. That's when it officially became the Post-Wlad era.
The next few years to come can still indeed yield some memorable moments. We shall see.
