Trying to find any information on my dad

Post by Renee1985 »

Hi, my dad kenneth Rees was a boxer in the day and boxed at tv ringside in
the year 1967 to 1969, he would of been 17 at the time. My mum said he went by the
name Kevin Kirk. If anyone has any information no matter how big or small
it may be, also photos. (anything at all)It would be much appreciated. I
got told he helped out at the Glen Roy boxing gym when it first opened?
When he left boxing went left to go to vitamin, My dad past away in 1993. I
hope what I have put helps with any information at all.
Im trying to find out about my dad in his younger years
THANKS HEAPS

There was a Kevin Kirk that fought in Melbourne, Australia during the years 1967 through 1969. Apparently, he was pretty good. His record was 10 wins and 2 losses. His record is in the BoxRec records. Hope this helps.

Hi, I knew your father. He lived in Glenroy, trained at the gym at Justin Avenue. My father Kevin Kirk, (died 2005), was a member of the gym and strapped the hands of most of the young fighters including your dad Kenny. Kenny spent a fair bit of time at our house before going off to Vietnam. He fought under my father, Kevin Kirk's name. I will have a look to see if I still have photos of your dad. There is a facebook page called I grew up in Glenroy Victoria 3046 in the 1960's to 1970's. There are lots if people in that group that could help with memories of your dad. Hope this helps a bit. Debbie.
