I don't understand the mis placed belief that Leonard ducked Pryor.
1. Leonard was out of boxing because of a detached retina when Pryor was in his prime
2. Pryor was 4 inches shorter than Leonard and half a stone lighter.
Pryor was, most probably, the finest light welter ever. But, in my opinion, no way would he have defeated SRL
Leonard did commentary as a retired fighter for arguello. Pryor/Leonard and the McCallum nonsense are the two most bizarre 'ducking' claims I've seen the internet invent
Why on Earth would a man who had fought Wilfred Benitez, Roberto Duran and Thomas Hearns duck someone who wasn't as mighty as those guys from the weight class below?
Leonard was the golden goose fighter of the 80s and everyone with a pulse wanted a piece of him.
If Pryor really wanted to fight Leonard, he would have moved up to 147 long before 1987.

There is a footage on YouTube that the great Mike McCallum claimed that the Fab 4 ducked him. McCallum claimed that.

Agreed, the footage is out there, but with all due respect to Mr McCallum, he's talking shyte.
He's obviously pissed because he never managed to get in on the act, but that's because of the way things panned out, not because any of them actively ducked him.

For reasons that never seem to be explained, some people on the BOTP don't think very highly of Pryor as a fighter.
.
Stupid as it sounds, it might have to do with the bottle..but he did prove himself in the rematch with Arguello...

I loved him, would rabidly cheer for him against Leonard but he would have lost.

Maybe they should have matched Aaron with Roger Stafford in a 12 rounder, with the winner getting Sugar Ray Leonard.

Actually not a bad idea...if Stafford beat Pryor, his name would have enlargened enough to make Leonard-Stafford a large bout, and everyone (Promoter, sanctioning bodies, TV and both Stafford and Leonard) would make large amounts of money. Pryor would be the only loser in that scenario. Of course if Pryor won as he probably would have, everyone but Stafford wins big as well, so not a bad idea at all...

Neither would have been a big money fight for Leonard. Pryor wouldn't be short, but nothing like hearns or Duran money. Stafford?

Yeah, but I personally don't see Pryor winning. It would be the fight of his life, especially Roger knowing what is at stake. But better Roger than Milton, Donald, or Marlon, who would beat Aaron.

No doubt Pryor beats Leonard.........
It would be an absolute certainty that Aaron would beat Ray to the airport in a frantic desperate dash to get the hell out of town, at least 6 hours before any scheduled bout with Ray.
